Augsburg climbs from league cellar
FRANKFURT, Germany (AP)
Nurnberg came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at home against Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga on Sunday, while Sascha Moelders scored two gifted goals to help Augsburg win 3-2 at Fortuna Duesseldorf.
Hamburg forward Son Heung-min wasted two late chances to secure a victory, while Duesseldorf was denied a goal in injury time that would have leveled the match.
Tomas Pekhart used a perfect low cross from Timo Gebhart to volley the equalizer in the 75th minute and give Nuremberg's new coaching duo of Michael Wiesinger and Armin Reutershahn a relatively successful debut after the departure of Dieter Hecking for Wolfsburg.
Striker Artjoms Rudnevs had put Hamburg ahead five minutes earlier, heading in a cross from Dennis Aogo.
Earlier, Nuremberg's Javier Pinola hit his own post while trying to clear.
Son's header from five meters out produced a one-handed save from Raphael Schaefer in the 77th and the South Korean struck the post in injury time.
South Koreans also played a big part in Augsburg's win.
Moelders notched the first in the 40th when defender Juanan tried to head the ball back to his goalkeeper Fabian Giefer but it trickled through his feet and Moelders put into the empty net.
The second came in the final minute of the first half, when Koo Ja-cheol scored at the far past following some good work by his South Korean countryman Ji Dong-won.
Moelders scored again in the 71st, when Giefer was played the ball and struck the Augsburg striker as he tried to clear it away.
Two minutes later, Robbie Kruse set up Stefan Reisinger for a goal from close range and Reisinger continued Fortuna's comeback by striking again in the first minute of stoppage time, knocking the ball at the far post after a corner.
Moments before the final whistle, Reisinger found the net again, but was denied a hat-trick when the referee called another Fortuna player for an apparent foul.
Despite the victory, Augsburg remained next to last, but is now one point behind Hoffenheim.
