Velez Sarsfield jumped to the top of the Apertura table as they came from behind to beat Godoy Cruz 2-1.

Nicolas Castro put the visitors ahead after 15 minutes, but the lead lasted just eight minutes before Facundo Ferreyra equalised.

Ferreyra then grabbed a second 15 minutes from time, allowing Velez to overtake Newell's Old Boys, who were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Quilmes.

The day's other game, between third-placed Belgrano Cordoba and Argentinos Juniors, also finished goalless.

With five games to go in the Apertura, Velez lead Newell's by a point, with Belgrano a further two points back.
