Toluca put one foot in the final of the Apertura play-offs as they claimed a 2-0 win in the first leg of their last-four tie at Club America.
After a goalless first half, Lucas Silva opened the scoring in the 54th minute for Toluca, who finished top of the Apertura table.
Half-time substitute Edgar Benitez added a second in the last minute to give America a daunting task in Sunday's return leg.
In the other semi, Leon also established a 2-0 advantage as they won the home leg of their tie against Tijuana.
The goals came in a rush, with Othoniel Arce breaking the deadlock in the 55th minute, moments after coming on as a substitute, and Carlos Pena doubling the advantage two minutes later.
