Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has been voted the Czech Republic's player of the year for 2012.

The 30-year-old Czech international won Monday's poll of players, coaches, football federation officials and journalists for the fifth consecutive year and record sixth time overall.

Werder Bremen defender Theodor Gebre Selassie came second and Hamburg midfielder Petr Jiracek was third.

Last year, Cech won the Champions League with his club and helped the Czechs reach the quarterfinals of the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine.

Cech broke his left little finger during Chelsea's 3-2 loss to Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday and won't be available to play for the Czech Republic in a friendly against Turkey on Wednesday.
