Boca starts season with heavy defeat
AROUND THE WORLD ...
Boca Juniors suffered a humbling start to their Apertura campaign with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Quilmes after playing for over 70 minutes with a man less.
Hosts Quilmes were already leading by Martin Cauteruccio's 12th-minute opener when Boca were reduced to 10 men when Santiago Silva was handed his marching orders in the 19th minute.
There was no way back for Boca, last season's Apertura champions, after that as Quilmes sealed the win with second-half strikes from Pablo Garnier (61) and Cauteruccio (86).
Colon Santa Fe got their season off to a winning start with a 1-0 home win over Lanus, Ivan Moreno y Fabianesi netting the only goal in the 37th minute.
Racing Club and Atletico Rafaela shared the points in a 1-1 draw, with visitors Atletico taking an 11th-minute lead through Cesar Carignano only to be pegged back almost immediately as Racing drew level through Fernando Ortiz.
Also, the match between Newell's Old Boys and Independiente finished goalless.
