Santos Laguna reaches Primera summit

Santos Laguna came from behind to defeat Puebla 3-1 and take top spot in the Clausura championship after previous leader Morelia lost 2-1 to Toluca.

Santos Laguna is ahead of Morelia on goal difference.

America drew 1-1 with Club Tijuana to move one point back to third, equal on points with reigning champion Tigres following its 2-2 draw against Jaguares.

In Sunday's game, Pumas drew 0-0 with Estudiantes Tecos, while in other games this weekend: Chivas defeated Cruz Azul 2-1, Monterrey won 4-1 against Queretaro, San Luis and Pachuca drew 0-0, and Atlante and Atlas also finished 0-0.

Santos Laguna scored three second-half goals, after United States winger DaMarcus Beasley had put Puebla into the lead in the 43rd minute following a defensive error.

Three minutes into the second half, U.S. forward Herculez Gomez equalized for Santos Laguna with a right-footed finish into the top corner from a tight angle.

Mexico forward Oribe Peralta scored in the 72nd minute to give Santos Laguna the lead, with Gomez tapping in for his second in injury time.

Goals from Antonio Rios and Aureliano Torres put Toluca two goals up within 20 minutes. Morelia pulled one back in the 35th, with Jorge Gastelum scoring from 25 yards (meters).

Tijuana finished the game against America with nine men after Jose Sand was sent off in the seventh minute and Egidio Arevalo received a red card in the 74th.

Raul Jimenez scored for America in the 62nd, but Duvier Riascos headed in the equalizer two minutes later and Tijuana held on for the point.

A curled free kick from 25 yards (meters) by Lucas Lobos gave Tigres the lead in the 39th, but two goals early in the second half from Luis Gabriel Rey gave Jaguares the lead. Edno Cunha scored a penalty in the 73rd to rescue a point for Tigres.

Pumas went closest to scoring when Martin Bravo hit the crossbar in the 51st with a shot from 30 yards (meters). Fernando Espinosa was sent off for Pumas in second half injury time.

Chivas has now won three consecutive games since Johan Cruyff became an adviser to the club, the team scoring two late goals after Cruz Azul had held the lead for most the game.

Hector Reynoso converted an injury-time penalty for Chivas, after Erick Torres had equalized with a deflected shot in the 89th. Emanuel Villa scored Cruz Azul's goal in the 23rd.

Cruz Azul's Nestor Araujo was sent off for an off-the-ball incident, handing Chivas their last-gasp penalty.

Four second-half goals gave Monterrey victory over Queretaro, with Darvin Chavez opening the scoring with a right-footed shot from the edge of the area in the 52nd.

Aldo de Nigris headed in the second in the 52nd, with Cesar Delgado adding the third five minutes late. De Nigris scored the fourth in the 90th minute, after Isaac Romo had scored Queretaro's goal in the 83rd.

San Luis remains winless in eight games after the 0-0 draw, with Pachuca also now four games without a win.

The game between Atlas and Atlante produced few chances, with neither team able to break the deadlock.
