The New York Red Bulls have acquired Wilman Conde from the Chicago Fire for allocation money and signed the defender.

Conde spent last year with Mexico's Atlas, where he scored two goals in 13 appearances. He started 66 games for the Fire from 2007-10, helping the team to postseason appearances in his first three seasons. He was a two-time MLS All-Star.

The 29-year-old Colombian came to the MLS from Millonarios in his home country.

The trade was announced Monday.
