Stoke City have now been the inhabitants of the Britannia Stadium for the last 15 years. The move coincided with massive success on the field and is now regarded as one of the most hostile stadiums in the Premier League for visiting supporters.

Premier League 433 8 Premier League: Stadiums 2012-13 season 31177962 Swansea City, Liberty Stadium Swansea+City%2C+Liberty+Stadium Premier League

The Liberty Stadium has a capacity of 20,532, making it the third biggest stadium in Wales. It has been Swansea’s home ever since it opened in 2005. Now, the stadium is deemed good enough to host numerous concerts and even international soccer.

Premier League 433 8 Premier League: Stadiums 2012-13 season 31177964 Tottenham Hotspur, White Hart Lane Tottenham+Hotspur%2C+White+Hart+Lane Premier League

White Hart Lane has been the home of Tottenham fans since the late 19th century. While Tottenham move forward on the field, it is unfortunate that their current home is not big enough to sustain their future. Plans are now afoot to build a new 56,000 capacity stadium on the current site.

Premier League 433 8 Premier League: Stadiums 2012-13 season 31177959 Chelsea, Stamford Bridge Chelsea%2C+Stamford+Bridge Premier League

Stamford Bridge has a current capacity of 41,837 but has become a stadium Chelsea have outgrown. The Blues are looking for a site for a new home as they bid to match the game-day revenue generated by rivals Manchester United and Arsenal, but the Bridge has changed vastly since the days of ‘The Shed’ end and cars being parked on the cinder track around the pitch.

Loftus road is located in Shepherds Bush in London and has been the home of QPR since 1917. The capacity of the ground remains at 18,360, which makes it the smallest ground in the Premier League next season. It was also the first ever British ground to install an artificial pitch, before its removal in 1988.

Premier League 433 8 Premier League: Stadiums 2012-13 season 31177960 Fulham, Craven Cottage Fulham%2C+Craven+Cottage Premier League

Craven Cottage has hosted Fulham since 1896 but the West London stadium was closed for a year in 2004 to allow a major refurbishment to take place, forcing the club to relocate temporarily to QPR’s Loftus Road. The stadium, which holds 25,700 and sits on the banks of the River Thames, is also home to a statue of Michael Jackson, who was a friend of Fulham’s flamboyant owner, Mohamed Al-Fayed.

The Etihad Stadium has a capacity of 47,805 and plays home to Premier League champion Manchester City, but was originally built to host the Commonwealth Games in 2002. The stadium has also staged England international matches, Rugby League games and pop concerts, with U2, Bon Jovi , the Foo Fighters and, of course, Oasis, all performing to sell-out crowds.

Premier League 433 8 Premier League: Stadiums 2012-13 season 31177952 Sunderland, Stadium of Light Sunderland%2C+Stadium+of+Light Premier League

The Stadium of Light is the fifth largest of any English soccer stadia. Along with hosting soccer matches, the stadium also hosts numerous concerts, including the likes of Coldplay, Take-That and Oasis. The stadium was opened in 1997 by Prince Andrew and has been home to Sunderland AFC ever since. If future redevelopments happen then it could see the eventual capacity increase to 66,000.

Named after Chairman John Madejski, the stadium holds 24,161. When Reading entered the Premier League last time they comfortably filled the bowl every week. The London Irish rugby team also uses the stadium facilities and turf for their regular matches. It will be interesting to see the quality of the pitch at the end of the season!

Premier League 433 8 Premier League: Stadiums 2012-13 season 31177955 Manchester United, Old Trafford Manchester+United%2C+Old+Trafford Premier League

Old Trafford is the largest stadium in the Premier League, with a capacity of 75,811. The ‘Theatre of Dreams’ has been United’s residence since 1910 but the Red Devils were forced to play their home games at Manchester City’s Maine Road after the Second World War due to German bombing raids destroying much of Old Trafford. United would like to extend the capacity to close to 95,000 but the presence of a railway line behind the South Stand – the smaller of the four sides – makes this a complicated prospect.

Premier League 433 8 Premier League: Stadiums 2012-13 season 31177958 Everton, Goodison Park Everton%2C+Goodison+Park Premier League

Goodison Park has been home to Everton since 1892 and can currently hold 40,157 people. The stadium is located just across Stanley Park from Anfield – home of rivals Liverpool. St Luke's church sits between the Goodison Road Stand and the Gwladys Street Stand, meaning Everton do not play early kick-offs on Sundays in order to permit Sunday services at the church.

Southampton left The Dell, their inhospitable former home, in 2001 to move to St. Mary’s Stadium – a ground that holds 32,689. Since it opened, St. Mary’s has hosted the England national team and remains the largest ground outside London in the south of England.

Premier League 433 8 Premier League: Stadiums 2012-13 season 31177953 West Ham, Boleyn Ground West+Ham%2C+Boleyn+Ground Premier League

Upton Park, as the stadium is more commonly known, is based in the East End of London. It holds 35,016, but for how much longer the home of the Hammers will remain so is in doubt, with West Ham keen to move to the new Olympic Stadium. The club beat Tottenham Hotspur to be named as preferred bidders to take ownership after the Games, but legal wrangles have since halted the move. West Ham, though, remain keen to become tenants of the new stadium as soon as 2014.

Carrow Road was built in just 82 days in 1935, when the FA forced the Canaries to move from their former home, The Nest. The stadium has since been developed into a 27,220 capacity stadium which, as well as football, has also hosted concerts by Elton John, Rod Stewart, George Michael and Tom Jones.

Premier League 433 8 Premier League: Stadiums 2012-13 season 31183081 Liverpool, Anfield Liverpool%2C+Anfield Premier League

Anfield is the home of Liverpool but the Reds have, for years, pondered a move away in order to increase their current game-day capacity of 45,276. John W. Henry has shelved the previous owners’ plans for a new stadium in Stanley Park but has yet to commit to a new vision for the future. Anfield was originally the home of Everton, who left an empty stadium when they moved to Goodison Park in 1892. Liverpool were formed to play at Anfield, where they have remained ever since.

The DW stadium is named after Wigan owner Dave Whelan and was opened in 1999 by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, whose team was the visitors when the record attendance of 25,133 was recorded in 2008. The football club shares the ground with the town’s rugby league club, Wigan Warriors.

St. James’ Park, as the locals still insist on calling it, is one of the finest football arenas in Britain. Located in the center of the city, St. James’ Park has hosted Newcastle United since 1892 and holds 52,387. Last year—to the fury of the Toon Army—chairman Mike Ashley renamed the stadium ‘sportsdirect.com @ St James' Park Stadium’, to attract a new naming rights deal.

Premier League 433 8 Premier League: Stadiums 2012-13 season 31183085 Arsenal, Emirates Stadium Arsenal%2C+Emirates+Stadium Premier League

Emirates Stadium was opened in 2006, just 500 yards from Arsenal’s former home, Highbury. The 60,361-seater stadium cost £470 million to build – a sum the club had to work hard to find, with many putting the Gunners’ current frugalness in the transfer market down to repaying the loans associated with the stadium.
