Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos has restated his need to leave the Gunners for the sake of his hopes of playing in the World Cup.

The Switzerland international, who spent last season on-loan at AC Milan, has played just seven games for the Gunners this season with South Africa 2010 looming.

The 24-year-old's first team chances took a further blow after the surprise January re-signing of veteran Sol Campbell on Wednesday.

Interest in Senderos has reportedly materialised from Spain, and the centre-half feels a move is essential for his World Cup prospects.

"I want to go," he told The Sun. "I need to be playing ahead of the World Cup and I don't want to play in the reserves any more. I really just want to leave."

Senderos' contract expires in the summer and may be allowed to leave on a free this January with Atletico Madrid thought to be keen.
