Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Jan Vertonghen from Ajax, subject to the Belgium defender passing a medical.
Vertonghen, named the Eredivisie player of the year as Ajax won the title last season, has long been linked with Spurs but the move was delayed by a contract wrangle with the Dutch club.
But agreement has now been reached, with Vertonghen becoming the second new arrival at Spurs under Andre Villas-Boas after Iceland midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson signed from Hoffenheim.
