PSG enter the hunt for wantaway Modric
PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti has praised Luka Modric but refused to confirm whether he will make a move for the Tottenham star.
AROUND THE WORLD ...
Modric has long been linked with a move away from north London this summer after impressing both for Spurs and with his country at the European Championship, with Real Madrid thought to be leading the chase.
Paris Saint Germain are one of the few clubs in Europe with the means to compete with the Spanish giants, having launched a spending spree last season under their new Qatari owners which fell short of delivering the Ligue 1 title.
They are sure to be active once more this summer, with the French and Italian media captivated by a reported double swoop for AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva.
On the back of that speculation, Ancelotti has now declared his admiration for Modric, a player he knows well from his time in England with Chelsea.
"I did not need to see him at the Euro to know how much talent he has," said the Italian.
"I knew his capabilities before. Now he has confirmed his high quality for those who did not know."
Pressed on the likelihood of a move for the 26-year-old, though, he told AS.com: "I know that is what matters most now, but I am sorry to disappoint you. I cannot speak publicly about the transfer market.
"You have to understand that it would be foolish of me to speak openly about our objectives and movements in relation to quality players."
