FRANKFURT, Germany (AP)

Germany coach Joachim Loew has called up Hamburger SV captain Heiko Westermann to replace injured central defender Mats Hummels for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ireland and Sweden.

Hummels sustained a bruised right foot in Borussia Dortmund's 1-1 draw at Hannover in the Bundesliga on Sunday and won't be able to practice for two weeks.

Loew also will be missing midfielders Lars Bender of Bayer Leverkusen and Ilkay Guendogan of Dortmund. The coach did not call up any replacements for the two.

Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Mueller has a cut in his face, while captain Philipp Lahm is suspended for Friday's match in Ireland.

Germany plays Sweden next week in Berlin.
