This tumultuous season at White Hart Lane took a positive turn for Clint Dempsey on Sunday. The U.S. international shrugged off a recent spell of indifferent form to supply Gareth Bale for Tottenham's second goal and torment West Ham United throughout the 3-1 victory on Sunday. Dempsey must reproduce this sort of form on a regular basis to keep his place in the side and propel Spurs toward the sort of consistency required to challenge at the top end of the table.

Dempsey kept his place in the starting XI after Thursday's 0-0 Europa League draw at Lazio and repaid Andre Villas-Boas' faith in Spurs' 3-1 home victory over West Ham United on Sunday. The former Fulham man assisted on Gareth Bale's goal in the 58th minute and posed problems for the Hammers defense throughout the entire affair. The assist marked Dempsey's first contribution to the scoresheet since he tallied in the 2-1 defeat at Southampton on Oct. 28.

Both players played prominent roles in Villa's 0-0 home draw with Arsenal on Saturday. Guzan retained his place between the sticks and stopped one Arsenal shot to claim the shutout. Lichaj replaced the injured Ron Vlaar in the 51st minute and took up his preferred berth at right back for the final 39 minutes of the affair. Villa currently sits one point from safety after Southampton defeated Newcastle 2-0 at St. Mary's on Sunday.

Castillo and Corona both started for the Xolos as they stormed back against Club León to secure a place in the Liguilla final against top-seeded Toluca. Castillo featured for the duration of the 3-0 home victory over León on Sunday night (3-2 on aggregate), but Corona made way for Raúl Enríquez after 61 minutes as the Xolos chased the necessary second goal. Duvier Riascos scored the decisive tally seven minutes after Corona's exit claim the Xolos' first berth in a Liguilla final.

Johnson scored his third goal of the season in Hoffenheim's 2-1 home defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday. The athletic left back cut inside from the left side of the penalty area and slotted his effort inside the far post after 56 minutes to revive Hoffenheim's hopes of securing a result. But Johnson's strike did not inspire a more comprehensive response or prevent relegation-threatened Hoffenheim from suffering a second straight defeat.
 

The former U.S. international made the headlines for all of the wrong reasons in the waning stages of Randers' 1-0 home defeat to Aalborg BK on Friday. Late substitute Davies completed a tussle in deep in the corner by headbutting with Aalborg defender Jakob Ahlmann. Davies received a red card for his actions in second-half stoppage time to compound Randers' troubles after the setback.
