The magic of the FA Cup swept through England this weekend as a series of shocks dumped several Premier League sides out of the competition. While those upsets – including Tottenham's defeat at Leeds United on Sunday – merited plenty of scrutiny, the primary tie of interest in the Americans Abroad sphere unfolded at the Reebok on Saturday. Three American internationals – Stuart Holden, Tim Howard and Tim Ream – featured in Everton's dramatic 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday. Johnny Heitinga's late winner even offered a dose of the intrigue experienced at Boundary Park, Carrow Road and Griffin Park over the past few days.

Howard and the Toffees booked a fifth round date with Oldham Athletic with a 2-1 victory at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday. Johnny Heitinga decided the tie with his 90th minute strike to ensure Everton progressed past the Championship side without toiling through a replay. Howard and Ream played all 90 minutes for their respective teams, while Holden featured for the final nine minutes as he continues his recovery.

One of the shocks of the FA Cup fourth round occurred at Elland Road as Leeds United defeated Spurs 2-1 on Sunday. Dempsey headed home his fifth goal in January to reduce the deficit after halftime, but the visitors could not find the second goal required to send the tie to a replay. Friedel played all 90 minutes between the sticks in his second appearance of 2013.
 

Altidore continued his fine form by notching his 15th goal of the season in AZ's 4-1 victory over VVV Venlo on Saturday. The potential summer transfer target latched onto a ball over the top of the VVV defense and slotted his effort inside the far post to increase the lead to 3-1 after 62 minutes. AZ held on comfortably to secure a second straight victory.

One other tidbit for Altidore to note as he ponders a possible move after the season concludes: AZ is reportedly interested in signing AGF Aarhus and potential American international Aron Jóhannsson.
 

Bradley assumed his usual duties in central midfield for Roma's frenetic 3-3 draw with Bologna on Sunday. Roma defender Panagiotis Tachtsidis headed home after 74 minutes to complete the scoring and hand the visitors a share of the spoils. The draw extended Roma's winless streak in league play to four matches. Zdenek Zeman's side now sits in eighth place with 34 points from 22 matches.

 

The Stoke loanee made his first start for his new club in a 4-1 defeat at Istanbul BB on Saturday. Edu featured in the heart of midfield for the duration of the affair as Bursaspor slipped to a first defeat in nine league matches. The potential arrival of QPR defender Anton Ferdinand on loan could help to bolster the side's chances of avoiding similar results in the future and fuel the push for European football next season.
