The fertile pipeline between MLS and Europe isn't tapped out yet. Several promising prospects will continue the tradition of migrating to top European leagues at some point in the next year or two. Perhaps the best part for those with one eye on the US national team: a healthy portion of the potential targets could join recent export Geoff Cameron in the extensive ranks of Americans Abroad. Read on to learn more about a few players on the radar for a move to Europe.
 

A training ground clash with US defender Timmy Chandler concluded Gonzalez's first European stint after one practice and one serious knee injury. Gonzalez recovered from that blow at 1.FC Nürnburg to obtain match fitness by late summer. The big center back probably won't make the leap this winter after the Galaxy retained MLS Cup in December, but the prospect of moving to Europe on a free transfer at the end of 2013 means he won't wait much longer.

 

United secured the long-term services of the versatile forward with a contract extension in September. That particular piece of contractual work looks like a deft move at this stage after Pontius garnered Best XI honors for his productive 2012 campaign. If Pontius continues to perform at that level and works his way into the US national team picture, then he could find himself contemplating a contract of an entirely different sort at some point during the next couple of years.
 

Celtic boss Neil Lennon publicly expressed his interest in the 20-year-old forward after a training spell in December. Chivas USA's reluctance to sell at this stage and MLS' hefty price tag dashed Agudelo's Champions League dreams for the moment, but the Red-and-White's reticence about a full switch didn't stop the lively striker from traveling to London for a one-week stint with West Ham United this week.
 

Several clubs across Europe – including Arsenal – were linked with a move for Shea before his disappointing 2012 campaign. Although the interest in the 22-year-old may have cooled for the moment, his unique blend of size and speed will ensure he receives another long look at some point in the near future. Shea must improve his domestic displays to justify the hefty price tag placed upon his head by MLS and take his talents across the pond.
 

A rather scurrilous rumor recently linked Sapong with a move to Arsenal. While that particular link appears a bit fanciful at this stage, other suitors may contemplate a bid for this physical target man. The 24-year-old forward isn't the finished article just yet in front of goal, but he could blossom into a capable figure for a European side with the proper among of seasoning.

Sporting teammate (and MLS Defender of the Year) Matt Besler would have made the list as well after receiving several trial offers this winter, but he recently signed a new deal with his hometown club.
