D.C. United has signed El Salvador midfielder Cristian Castillo on loan from a Mexican second-division club.

Castillo scored one goal in 15 appearances with Leon FC in 2009.

He has two goals against the United States in World Cup qualifying since making his debut with El Salvador's national team in April 2008.

D.C. United announced the deal Friday. General manager Dave Kasper called the 25-year-old Castillo "one of the most talented players in El Salvador."
