It’s fair to say that Rumor Redux has a touch of the golden oldie about it this week and it could prove to be that way for the next couple of months. Contracts have ended and some players are free to talk to other clubs as their deals start to run down.

We have the names you’d expect to read about in this week’s edition and to accompany them we’ve dug up one of the finest rock ‘n’ roll bands in history. These rock gods didn’t even release a single, they didn’t give most of their albums proper names. Ten songs by Led Zeppelin give this week’s edition some much added “oomph.”

Rumor: Leaving Madrid.

Likelihood: Strange, but seemingly true.

We are possibly gaining an insight into what is making Cristiano Ronaldo so sad at Real Madrid. Spanish newspaper Marca thinks this will be Jose Mourinho’s last season at the Bernabeu. Despite Mouinho’s success with the club, president Florentino Perez is thought to be unhappy with some of the Portuguese’s antics – a clear case of “Good Times, Bad Times.”

Mourinho says his relationship with Perez is “good” but no-one seems to be falling for that. In England, Sir Alex Ferguson has graciously admitted that Mourinho is good enough to manage Manchester United, while Roberto Mancini has told the ‘Special One’ to stop touting himself around Europe for another club. We can read the signs, but where are they heading?

Rumor: Madrid to the Barclays Premier League.

Likelihood: Less likely than Jose Mourinho.

The rumors just won’t go away about Real Madrid's Ronaldo and his unhappiness at the Bernabeu. Whether it stems from not getting a new deal, being denied 100% of his image rights or not getting the protection he thinks he deserves on the pitch, Ronaldo remains a source of speculation on the rumor mill. Even if Ronaldo wanted to leave (and we don’t think he does), who could afford to buy him?

Debt-ridden Manchester United benefited by £80m when they sold him three years ago but it’s unlikely they would want to pay a similar sum. Ferguson would love to have him back but he has described Ronaldo as “unbuyable.” Some are talking about £120million for a 28-year-old forward that would have no sell-on value. We see Ronaldo seeing out his “Dancing Days” at Real rather than quick-stepping his way to Paris or anywhere else for that matter, but who knows?

Rumor: Exiting Inter to Manchester United.

Likelihood: Extremely likely.

What a strange turn of events at the San Siro where Holland midfielder Sneijder has been left “Dazed and Confused” by negotiations over a new contract. Inter wants Sneijder, who has recovered from injury, to agree a new contract which would involve a pay cut.

We all thought that was the reason why he hasn’t even been on the bench in recent games, but Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni now claims Sneijder isn’t good enough to get into the team. Sure!

Inter needed an own goal to beat Palermo at home at the weekend – who needs Sneijder? This is heading one way and that’s the exit door. Let’s see what Manchester United do about it.

Rumor: Heading to Paris St. Germain.

Likelihood: There’s a chance.

Well, he ended his career on a high by winning the MLS Cup or a second straight year at the weekend but “How Many More Times” are we going to read about his next destination? Australia one minute, China the next, QPR, West Ham...the list goes on.

Beckham says he always wants a “challenge” and the Rumor Redux gang nod their heads sagely in agreement when we hear words like that. For “challenge” read “cash” and lots of it. If he wants a challenge, try turning out for Leytonstone in East London on a Saturday afternoon.

Which clubs have the cash to pay for Becks? Chelsea? Man City? Perhaps. Anzhi for sure. But Queen Victoria in Russia? No way! Now PSG, there’s a thought. Fashion and money. We expect him in the French capital for the rest of the season.

Rumor: Real Madrid to Los Angeles Galaxy.

Likelihood: We’re buying this.

Everyone seemed to think that Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard was “Going to California” and specifically the LA Galaxy but there is a new twist to the equation – Kaka. As things stand, the Galaxy have just two designated players (Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane), while Lampard would fit into this category if he moved to the USA.

It now turns out David Beckham has been playing a lead in introducing Kaka to the Galaxy hierarchy. If that deal comes off, Lampard would be out of the equation. So what about Kaka? There’s something about this that seems right. Galaxy wants a player to boost its image with the Los Angeles community and Kaka needs a fresh start. We await developments with interest.

Rumor: Dortmund to Manchester United.

Likelihood: He’s on his way.

He’s been banging them in left, right and center for the Bundesliga champion this season but not for much longer, according to sources in Germany. Sky Deutschland believes the Poland international, who is out of contract at the end of next season, is heading for Manchester United in the summer for £12million.

In August, Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp made his feelings known about Lewandowski’s advisers, who he thought were trying to engineer a move to the Premier League. Will it be a “Stairway to Heaven” for Lewandowski? We think so. Expect a move to Old Trafford in summer.

Rumor: Chelsea to Arsenal.

Likelihood: Doesn’t seem right to us.

It seems there has been a “Communication Breakdown” at Stamford Bridge. Rafael Benitez now no longer knows whether either Lampard or Ashley Cole are leaving the club despite being pretty sure a couple of weeks ago. Over the weekend, reports surfaced that London rivals Arsenal are interested in signing the Chelsea midfielder, who is out of contract at the end of the season and is entitled to speak to other clubs in January.

Arsene Wenger is a man who usually goes for young players with potential and never signs players reaching the end of their career. Furthermore, the Gunners already have enough midfielders. What they need is a 20-goals-a-season striker.

Rumor: In route to Old Trafford.

Likelihood: Hard to say.

Sterling is an example of exactly where the game has gone wrong. Despite not even being 18-years-old, he’s already kicking up a fuss about his first professional contract. It will be a “Celebration Day” for the ordinary fan if the Reds refuse to cave in to his demands.

Unfortunately, there is always someone waiting in the wings to benefit from this sort of impasse and that could be Manchester United, who are looking to replace out-of-sorts Nani. Of course, it’s not just United that are interested in this incredibly quick young winger who will be a star for years to come. City, Chelsea and Arsenal are also in the mix, but it’s hard to say how things are going to transpire. We hope that common sense prevails and Sterling stays at Anfield.

Rumor: Heading to Stamford Bridge.

Likelihood: Love may be waning.

Sir Alex Ferguson sent his brother and Manchester United scout Martin to watch Athletic Bilbao’s Oscar de Marcos perform in the heavy weekend defeat at Barcelona. Of course, Ferguson was dazzled by Oscar last season when he scored three goals against United in the two legs of their Europa League matches. Then, United were put off by the £25million asking price but times have changed and Athletic may say “Thank You” to United if they lower the transfer fee.

However, Bielsa’s men seem to be a different team these days and the trail may well have gone cold. Chelsea has reportedly entered the mix and might battle Fergie to acquire the talented Spanish midfielder to their ranks.

Rumor: Heading back to Goodison Park.

Likelihood: Pipe Dream.

David Moyes has been saying all the right things as he makes the first tentative steps towards bringing Joleon Lescott back to Everton. England defender Lescott can only make the bench at City at the moment which has prompted Moyes to say he would be prepared to let bygones be bygones.

However, “Baby Come on Home” is not how this is going to end up no matter how hard Moyes tries. As frustrated as Lescott is to be on the bench, his time will come again and the thought of a pay cut would be too much to bear.
