Bendtner fined, loses license
COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP)
A Danish court has given Juventus striker Nicklas Bendtner a 842,000 kroner ($147,000) fine for drunk driving, and suspended his driver's license for three years.
Bendtner pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol when he was stopped after a night out on Sunday morning by police. The prosecution says his blood-alcohol content was 1.75, or 3.5 times higher than the legal limit.
Bendtner said after Tuesday's verdict by the Copenhagen court that it was "the worst day in my life."
On Monday, the Danish football federation suspended Bendtner from national team duty for six months. The suspension means Bendtner will miss key World Cup qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria this month and against Armenia in June.
