Tiger Woods isn't ready to return to the PGA Tour. But he's getting pretty close.

Woods has begun hitting his long irons and driver as he rehabs from reconstructive ACL surgery on his left knee.

"As I had hoped, after January 1, I started hitting my long irons and driver," Woods said in a story posted on his Web site. "I'm not swinging as hard as I can, but I'm working towards that goal."

Woods has played a few holes at his home course of Isleworth Country Club near his home in Orlando, Fla., according to his Web site, but he still has not set a target date for his return.

"So far, my knee has held up well, but I don't know when I'll be able to return to competition," Woods said. "I'm looking forward to returning to the PGA Tour when I think I'm ready."

Initially Woods had hoped to return for The Masters in April, but recent rumors have speculated that he could return earlier.
