Kingston, Orr share lead at KLM Open
HILVERSUM, Netherlands (AP)
James Kingston of South Africa and Garry Orr of Scotland both shot a 4-under 66 on Saturday to share the lead after the third round of the KLM Open.
ALL TIGER, ALL THE TIME
Kingston started with a double bogey on the first hole but then made six birdies the rest of the way for a 10-under total of 200.
''I didn't start out all that great on the first, and (it) turned out to be quite a nice day,'' Kingston said.
David Lynn of England was a shot back in third after a 68.
US Open champion Rory McIlroy also carded a 68 after birdies on four of the last eight holes to sit three shots back in eighth place. Lee Westwood was in a tie for 18th at 4 under after a 70.
Paul McGinley of Ireland put himself in contention for a first title since 2005 with a 64 to equal the best round of the day. McGinley joined second-round leader Simon Dyson, Niclas Fasth and Alexandre Kaleka in a tie for fourth at 8 under.
McGinley had an uneven front nine that included three birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey. But he played superbly on the back nine, making five straight birdies from the 12th hole and finishing with an eagle on the par-3 18th.
''What a round,'' McGinley said. ''I didn't play brilliantly, but I putted brilliantly. I was saying that if I had more days like that I would have had some career.''
Orr's career has been hampered by back injuries, and the 44-year-old Scot has been given a medical exemption to play on the European Tour this year despite falling to 674th in the rankings.
''My lower back has been on and off,'' Orr said. ''But the last few months, it's been better and so I started playing again at Wentworth, but my game has been really poor. I can't blame any excuses on the back unfortunately. I'd like to blame it on the back but it's been good since then.''
