KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (AP)

A brief look at the fourth round of the 94th PGA Championship on Sunday on The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island:

WINNER: Rory McIlroy, whose eight-stroke victory broke Jack Nicklaus' tournament record for winning margin.

SURPRISING SECOND: David Lynn of England, playing his first event in the U.S., shot a 4-under 68 to sneak into second place.

TIGER TALES: Woods was in a hole when he arrived in the morning after bogeying three of seven holes Saturday in a rain-shortened start to the third round. He was never much of a factor Sunday, finishing with a 74 in the third round and 72 in the fourth to end up tied for 11th.

SHOT OF THE DAY: McIlroy's third shot on the par-5 second hole, which he hit from off the wood chips under a tree to 6 feet for his first birdie of the final round.

RYDER CUP: Phil Mickelson earned a spot in the Ryder Cup, taking the last of eighth automatic U.S. spots. Tiger Woods led the standings. Also qualifying were Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner, Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson, Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar.

KEY STATISTICS: The 23-year-old McIlroy returned to No. 1 in the world, and he became the youngest player since Seve Ballesteros to win two majors. Woods was about four months older than McIlroy when he won his second major.

NOTEWORTHY: Ian Poulter began his final round with birdies on the first five holes and eight of the first 12. Then he bogeyed four of the last six to finish with a 69.

QUOTEWORTHY: ''Looking forward to April next year and getting a crack at another one,'' - McIlroy, referring to the Masters and a chance for another major.

NEXT UP: The 2013 PGA Championship will be Aug. 8-11 at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.
