Tiger Woods remained in contention all week at the Barclays — and even made a memorable charge on Sunday — despite lingering back pain he said stems from a poor night’s sleep on a bad hotel bed.

But on the 13th hole in Sunday’s final round, Woods saw his chances at his sixth PGA Tour win this season take a hit as a result of what appeared to be a poorly timed back spasm.

Woods took his second shot on the par-5, and after hooking the ball badly to the left, the world No. 1 grimaced and dropped to his knees. After a short time in discomfort on the turf, Woods stood up and gingerly walked toward his ball, which had landed in the water:

Woods would go on to bogey the hole. He bogeyed again on the 15th before making birdie on 16 and 17 and missing another by inches on the 18th.

Adam Scott ultimately won the tournament, adding to his great year. Tiger finished just one shot back.
