JGR Lineup: Denny Hamlin (Pole Winner) Tony Stewart (18th) J.J. Yeley (24th) Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 FedEx Ground Chevrolet, won his second career pole during qualifying for Sunday's Pocono 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. Hamlin turned a lap of 53.054 seconds, 169.638 mph on the 2.5-mile triangle-shaped track to earn his first Nextel Cup pole of the season. Hamlin's Joe Gibbs Racing teammates — Tony Stewart in the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet and J.J. Yeley in the No. 18 Husqvarna Chevrolet — qualified 18th and 24th, respectively. Stewart turned a lap of 53.896, 166.988, while Yeley timed in at 54.052, 166.506. After Hamlin, rounding out the top-five in qualifying were Kurt Busch (53.102, 169.485), Kasey Kahne (53.251 169.011), Brian Vickers (53.320, 168.792) and Jeff Burton (53.411, 168.505). Forty-eight drivers attempted to qualify for the 200-lap race. Those not making the cut in the 43-car field were Scott Wimmer, Derrike Cope, Stanton Barrett, Greg Sacks and Brent Sherman. As far as manufacturers went, Chevy took the top spot thanks to Hamlin's pole-winning mark while Dodge was next best at the hands of Busch. Carrying the flag for Ford was Greg Biffle, who qualified seventh. The Pocono 500 gets underway on Sun., June 11 at 2:10 p.m. EDT. FOX will carry live coverage of the event.
