FOX Fantasy:
Hey folks, we are LIVE with this week's fantasy football chat with Big John Juhasz. Have your questions ready and get 'em in ASAP, 'cause there will be tons of people battling for Johnny's time today.

Ready.........set.........GO!!!

John Juhasz:
What's up, kids? Can't believe Week 8 is coming up. It feels like we're in Week 77 to me, but let's rock and roll here.

FOX Fantasy:
Kevin in Charlotte gets the first question of the day.........Hey John, I've been starting Jeremy Shockey all season, and he's been great, but all of a sudden Vernon Davis (has been my backup) is tearing it up. Which of these guys should I be playing now?!
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:03 FOX Fantasy
3:05
John Juhasz:
Davis. Definitely. Alex Smith is looking his way almost exclusively, and he scored three TDs in the second half at Houston last week. The yardage is roughly similar for both players, but Davis will score way more TDs. Go with Vernon.

FOX Fantasy:
John's next up..........Should I be keeping Willie Parker on my bench, or do I need to be dumping him to open up a roster spot?
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:05 FOX Fantasy
3:06
John Juhasz:
Great name, John! I think you have to dump him. He's been hobbling around all season long with foot injuries, and Rashard Mendenhall will be the featured back in this offense as long as he can avoid the fumbleitis that put him into Mike Tomlin's dog house a few weeks ago.
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:06 John Juhasz

FOX Fantasy:
Anthony has two quick questions..........Should I be starting Baltimore's DST at home vs. Denver or Dallas' DST at home against Seattle? And I need to pick two of these guys: Reggie Wayne, Steve Smith (NYG), Nate Burleson and Anquan Boldin. Thanks John!
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:09 FOX Fantasy
3:11
John Juhasz:
First off, your defenses. I like Dallas. If they can force Matt Ryan and company into a number of mistakes, they should sure as hell be able to do the same to Matt Hasselbeck. Don't forget too that Patrick Crayton is becoming a special teams stud and is a real threat to score on punt returns. I have concerns about the Ravens defense this year, and I like Dallas' as the better of the two for this weekend...
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:11 John Juhasz
3:13
John Juhasz:
As far as your wideouts, Wayne is a no-brainer. Even if the Colts happen to be playing a Pro Bowl roster that week, play him. Your other best option is probably Steve Smith. I don't know where Boldin's head (and heart, for that matter) are at the moment, and the only way Burleson will have a huge game is if the Seahawks manage to put up garbage points if they're getting blown out at the endo f the game. It's entirely possible, but I just like Smith's potential better.
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:13 John Juhasz

FOX Fantasy:
Xavier in Chicago has a valid RB question............Who's the better play the rest of the season: Shonn Greene or Jamaal Charles?

John Juhasz:
Greene. Without question. I wrote about him this past week, and I think it's pretty rare that you'll have a chance to claim someone like him off the waiver wire at this point in the season. After Mark Sanchez's five INTs against Buffalo, Rex Ryan is going to take the ball out of Sanchez's hands and run his opponents to death. Greene is going to get a good number of carries and a great number of yards and scores. If he's still somehow on your waiver wire, go pick him up immediately. He really has the potential to produce like a RB1.

FOX Fantasy:

"Ladies Night in the Chat Room" time!! Wendy, you're up........I need to start two RBs from these four guys: Ray Rice (DEN), Ricky Williams (@NYJ), Frank Gore (@IND), Steven Jackson (@DET).

Thursday October 29, 2009 3:16 FOX Fantasy
3:17
John Juhasz:
Wendy. Nice. The name of the very first girl I ever asked out in seventh grade, and she turned out to be a lousy date. If this is the same Wendy, then I hope I give you the wrong advice.
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:17 John Juhasz
3:19
John Juhasz:
Ray Rice reached must-start status a long time ago. He's wrested complete control over what was supposed to be a three-headed monster in Baltimore. Go with Rice, and also Steven Jackson. S-Jax is the only Ram worth a damn on that entire offense. It's more of a surprise when he goes under 100 rushing yards than over it. I'd be shocked if he doesn't add at least one touchdown to go with  the 100-plus yard day here in Week 8.
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:19 John Juhasz

FOX Fantasy:
Joel has a question I need answered as well.........Do I go with Pierre Thomas or Mike Bell as my last RB this week? Who's gonna get the most touches for the Saints the rest of the way?
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:19 FOX Fantasy
3:21
John Juhasz:

I've heard arguments from both sides of this aisle, as if I've been moderating debates about them. Mike Bell's recent performances have to be a huge concern for Thomas owners, but Thomas never seems to come into the game until the second half anyway, and when he does, the defenses are already exhausted from having chased Drew Brees and his receivers all over the field for the first 30 minutes.

Thursday October 29, 2009 3:21 John Juhasz
3:23
John Juhasz:
This is more of a hunch than anything, but I think Thomas may end up getting slightly better stats than Bell when all is said and done. This is very much an RB-by-committee approach though, and they play for a highly potent offense, so I don't think you can really go wrong with either. I'd be surrpised if one of them pulls away from the other in terms of stats. One will be roughly as good as the other for you.

Rich has a trade offer that nobody thought would be legitimate before the season........John, I just got offered Jeremy Maclin for Matt Forte. I only have Chad Ochocinco and Percy Harvin at WR right now.

3:27
John Juhasz:
I'd probably accept a toasted bagel with cream cheese for Forte at the moment. His only breakout game came against the Lions this year, and most of his production in that game came on a couple of long runs. And by the way, this is why I had him ranked ninth in my preseason rankings and read through angry e-mails from Bears fans and Forte owners in keeper leagues. He's going through a classic sophomore slump. I think your best bet is to hold on to him this weekend, watch him hopefully run wild against the comically hapless Browns, then sell high. But if he struggles against Cleveland, then his season can officially be classified as an unequivocal bust.

3:27
John Juhasz:
To answer your question, though, do the trade this Monday. This week is one of the last few chances Forte has to really shine.

FOX Fantasy:
Josh wants to talk about the Game of the Week!!........Hey John, I saw that Roger Rotter has Marc Bulger tearing up the Lions' defense this week. However, I think the Detroit DST is actually a huge sleeper play. What's your take of this matchup?
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:28 FOX Fantasy
3:31
John Juhasz:
This is going to be somewhat entertaining for all the wrong reasons, isn't it? The Rams offense can't score, and the Lions can't stop anyone from scoring. Another chicken and the egg scenario. I don't think I'd be terribly excited about starting the Lions against anyone, including the Rams. As I said above, Steven Jackson should have his way with this front seven all day long. The Lions haven't registered a patricularly high number of sacks, turnovers or D/ST touchdowns. They don't have the playmakers right now. Jackson will wear them down as the day goes on. Don't start them.

Dwight Sims has a question I never thought I'd hear.........I'm considering trading away Adrian Peterson! I was just offered Steven Jackson and Vincent Jackson for A.P., and I think it's a trigger I need to pull. What do you think?

3:35
John Juhasz:
That's actually not bad at all. It's pretty fair value based on this concept - if your fantasy draft were held today, where would each of those guys go? AD would be No. 1 overall in just about any league, but did you know that after Cedric Benson and AD, Steven Jackson has the third-highest rushing yardage total in the league (635)? And in addition to him, you're getting a WR who is a threat to go for 100 yards and a score on any given week. Essentially, you'd be trading away a first-round pick in exchange for another first and probably a mid-second rounder. As much as I love AD, I think I'd have to say goodbye and do that deal if someone offered it to me.

FOX Fantasy:
Andrew's one of several people with this dilemma this weekend.......Hey John, do I start Kurt Warner at home against the Panthers or Brett Favre in Green Bay?
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:36 FOX Fantasy
3:39
John Juhasz:

Go with Favre. Carolina has the league's top-ranked pass defense at 150 yards per game. Part of that is because teams don't need to pass since they're running the ball so successfully, but I think Favre is going to be just a tad pumped for this weekend's contest. I'm expecting another shootout like the one we saw on Monday night. He's probably dreaming of throwing for 350 yards and three touchdowns, then mooning the Lambeau crowd on his way off the field, and I think all scenariois are possible.

FOX Fantasy:
Alon in Brooklyn is on the clock........I have a bye week issue. Do I start Mario Manningham in Philly or Jeremy Maclin at home against the Giants? Also, am I crazy to consider starting Beanie Wells (home vs. CAR) over Brandon Jacobs?!?
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:40 FOX Fantasy
3:43
John Juhasz:
I don't know what to make of Maclin. He exploded in McNabb's return from injury, then seems to have registered a total of about five  total receiving yards ever since. But you have to like the matchup against a Giants secondary which is suddenly showing a number of holes. And you're not crazy at all to go with Wells over Jacobs. BJ finally got going a little with the touchdown last week, but I think Wells' first score of the season is going to give him (and his coaches) a nice shot of confidence going forward. Ironically, Wells kind of reminds me of  a younger version of Jacobs. Go with  Beanie since he has an easier matchup.

Scott is worried about a former star........I have Carolina's Steve Smith. Do I need to be benching him for Miles Austin these days, or do you see him breaking out anytime soon?

John Juhasz:
I'd start Austin over Smith right now, and it's not even debatable. While I don't think Austin is going to catch 200 yards and two scores every single week, he has clearly become Tony Romo's go-to guy. I can rattle off a number of flashes in the pan that just end up disappointing you when you pick them up, but something just seems different about Austin. He looks like he's here to stay, and he clearly has a lot better of a relationship with his QB than Smith does. The Panthers are a run-first team, and the Cowboys aren't.

And by the way, is it just me, or is Miles Austin a dead ringer for A-Rod?

FOX Fantasy:
John Wagner has two quickies.......Do I go with Frank Gore or Ricky Williams this week? And can I possibly sit Philip Rivers for David Garrard in Tennessee?
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:48 FOX Fantasy
3:49
John Juhasz:
Part 1: Go with Gore. My only concern is the Colts may race out to a huge lead and force the Niners to throw in order to play catch-up, but Indy's run defense is still dreadful, and I think the Jets will be a lot more prepared to handle the Wildcat this time around.
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:49 John Juhasz
3:51
John Juhasz:
Part 2: Frankly, they both have a decent shot at producing big games. Tennessee's secondary is by far the worst in the league, giving up an average of 310 passing yards per contest. I think you almost have to start any QB going against them right now, but you have two excellent matchups here and really can't go wrong with either.
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:51 John Juhasz

FOX Fantasy:
Taylor's worried about a receiver decision........Hey John, the last time I sat Roddy White, he had a career game. I'm thinking of sitting him again this week for Sidney Rice in Green Bay. Is this a bonehead move?!
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:51 FOX Fantasy
3:54
John Juhasz:
Rice has only come on strong in recent weeks, catching for over 100 yds in each of his last two games. He had more yards than White, but White has more TDs. If you league rewards yards more than scores, go with Rice. If it's the other way around, go with White. In a standard league, I'd give White a slight edge. The Falcons will need to throw plenty in order to keep up with the Saints.
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:54 John Juhasz
3:54
FOX Fantasy:
Tyler wants to talk WRs.........Is Greg Jennings worth a start this week? I already have Mike Sims-Walker, Sidney Rice and Dallas Clark in my three receiver spots otherwise.
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:54 FOX Fantasy
3:56
John Juhasz:
Not sure what to think of Jennings. He had more catches last week, but Donald Driver still had a better overall game and seems to have become Aaron Rodgers' primary target. Jennings was barely a factor (3 catches, 31 yds) the first time the Pack played Minnesota this year. i'd look at my other options first.
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:56 John Juhasz
3:57
FOX Fantasy:
Our Canuck in Canada has trade concerns........Is Larry Fitzgerald for Cedric Benson a fair trade? Or is it more like Fitz for Michael Turner? Would I need to throw in a second RB (like Rashard Mendenhall maybe!) if I went with the second option?
Thursday October 29, 2009 3:57 FOX Fantasy
3:58
John Juhasz:
Any time you have a shot at getting the NFL's leading rusher, you have to give it some real thought. It depends on what your team needs happen to be. Had you proposed Benson for Fitzgerald before the draft started, you'd have been laughed out of the room. Now, though...it looks about even.

FOX Fantasy:
Thanks for all your questions today everybody! We'll keep working on answering more and more of them each week......While we go out, we'll answer one last one, from our man Bill.........I have Tom Brady on a bye week. Should I be going with Alex Smith (@IND) or Marc Bulger (@DET)? Any other QBs on the wire I should be targeting instead, perhaps?
Thursday October 29, 2009 4:00 FOX Fantasy
4:01
John Juhasz:
I think the answer is Smith, but only be default since Bulger is so ... bad. Smith's insertion into last week's lineup was like someone had shot about 10,000 volts of electricity through the life of the offense. He should at least be able to post a decent game in Indy, but I don't trust Marc Bulger against anyone right now.
Thursday October 29, 2009 4:01 John Juhasz
4:02
John Juhasz:
The Rams are going to run Jackson all day long, and Bulger doesn't really have any dangerous receiving targets who cause defensive coordinators to lose sleep. Go with Smith. I'd be surprised if Bulger has a better game.
