 John Juhasz Fantasy Football Chat(11/17/2009)
2:58
FOX Fantasy:
It's Tuesday, folks. And that means only two things: the Browns are having the best day of their week (the off day) and John Juhasz is here to chat about fantasy football!

FOX Fantasy:
Get your questions in quick and we'll get to as many of them as possible over the next hour.

John Juhasz:
Sorry guys...traffic. You know how it is. Let's rock and roll and dissect Week 11

FOX Fantasy:
We love the ladies here in the fantasy lounge, which is why we're gonna go straight to Jennie, who has an issue with a particular tight end.........Jason Witten is driving me to drink! Is it time to dump him? If so, for who?!
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:03 FOX Fantasy
3:05
John Juhasz:

Hi, Jennie. Yeah, Witten hasn't really been as much of a factor as we thought he'd be. If anything, he was projected to be an even better fantasy asset than he was last year since T.O. was no longer around to take his catches. Witten's disappearance has been a complete mystery to everyone. You can feel free to peruse the waiver wire if you like, but I doubt you'll find a TE who has better stats than him. In other words, you're probably stuck with him this year. Sorry. Just forward all the hate mail to Jerry Jones.

Amit's worried about one of his RBs.........Is it worth picking up Sammy Morris now that Michael Turner may be out a while? And when is Turner supposed to be back?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:06 FOX Fantasy
3:08
John Juhasz:

Turner's availability is unknown as of now, but if he's available, I like Jason Snelling a LOT more than any other RB on the waiver wires right now. He runs hard, is difficult to tackle and gets to rush behind the same OL Turner does. What scares me about Morris is the team he plays for.

FOX Fantasy:

Doug asks: Call me crazy, but is Brady Quinn not worth a bench spot?

Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:13 FOX Fantasy
3:14
FOX Fantasy:
Yes, that's crazy, Doug. Every one of Quinn's passes that is longer than five yards sails about 20 yards out of bounds. In fact, I think the Lions defense may be a sneaky good play against the sorry Browns this week. Can you believe that?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:14 FOX Fantasy

FOX Fantasy:
Joel wants to talk Jackson-on-Jackson action..........How much of an upgrade over DeSean Jackson is VIncent Jackson? And is Kevin Smith and DeSean too much to give up for V-Jax?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:14 FOX Fantasy
3:16
John Juhasz:
Vincent Jackson has become one of the elite WRs in the entire league. In fact, I can't think of too many off the top of my head who I would trade him for.  If he hasn't  officially reached Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson territory yet, he's getting there. And if you are on the receiving end of V-Jax in that deal, I'd carry Kevin Smith and Desean on my back and walk them to the other owner's house to make the deal.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:16 John Juhasz
3:17
FOX Fantasy:
Anyone with a quality That Thing You Do reference immediately goes to the front of the line here, and that's just what our friend OneDers has done for us. Well done, sir........Is Jason Avant merely a one-week wonder?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:17 FOX Fantasy
3:19
John Juhasz:
Probably. His Week 10 total was almost as much yardage as he amassed in the nine previous weeks combined. He'll probably do the same thing Jeremy Maclin did - post a montster game, then disappear for the next month.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:19 John Juhasz
3:20
FOX Fantasy:
Ty Hill is a semi-decent DB and therefore, if this is actually him, I've really just embarrassed myself by saying that. Either way, he has the next question on the board........John, what do you think of Justin Forsett this week?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:20 FOX Fantasy
3:21
John Juhasz:
I think he's going to be in for a long day. Don't get me wrong - he's a supremely talented RB who has all but taken over for Julius Jones as Seattle's RB1. The problem is he's going to go against a very tough Vikings run defense, and chances are that Seattle will find themselves in a big hole in that game, thus rendering their rushing attack somewhat useless. Pick him up, but don't start him this week.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:21 John Juhasz
3:25
FOX Fantasy:
Lute asks: John, I'm trying to get a handle on LT. He's driving me crazy. I lose because I start him and I lose because I bench him! Week 9 he goes for 3pts and last week 21+. What does your crystal ball say about his performance going forward? Are we more likely to see the 3 pt or the 21pt LT? Thanks.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:25 FOX Fantasy
3:26
John Juhasz:

As an LT owner, I feel your pain. Trust me. In fact, as long as no one minds if I complain, my big money league this year has been nothing short of a disaster since I'm getting nothing from my top two picks (LT and Steve Slaton).

Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:26 John Juhasz
3:27
John Juhasz:
But he seems to have found his mojo last week, and now he gets to face a Denver run defense which looks a lot more like I thought they would before the season started. You drafted him high, so stick with him. I don't think he's done with the big performances yet.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:27 John Juhasz
3:28
FOX Fantasy:
Jake's all about RBs right now........Would you say Jason Snelling's a much more valuable waiver wire pickup than Larry Johnson right now? And what about Jerious Norwood?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:28 FOX Fantasy
3:30
John Juhasz:
Yes, I'd absolutely take Snelling over LJ. I'm not really expecting a great deal from LJ in Cincy since Cedric Benson's injury doesn't appear to be all that serious, and the Bengals aren't about to bench him in favor of LJ. Snelling, on the other hand, looks like he'll get at least a few weeks worth of reps as Atlanta's RB1. That's why I like him better than Norwood as well.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:30 John Juhasz
3:31
FOX Fantasy:
Jim Smith has a topical one for us..........Hey John, with Dwayne Bowe now suspended for four games, are any of the K.C. receivers worth picking up in his place?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:31 FOX Fantasy
3:33
John Juhasz:
Probably. By the way, you can add Bowe to the list of my gripes for my big money league since I own him there too. I think Chris Chambers' value jumps with the Bowe suspension. Matt Cassel seems to throw for around 200 yards and a couple TDs per game. A lot of that production usually comes in garbage time when they're down, but so what? Chambers will take over Bowe's role and become a decent, but not great, fantasy asset.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:33 John Juhasz
3:34
John Juhasz:
Also, while he's not a beast, Lance Long is kind of like the Chiefs version of Wes Welker - a guy who will catch a bunch of short passes over the middle and amass a decent yardage total. Both of them benefit from Bowe's suspension.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:34 John Juhasz
3:34
FOX Fantasy:
John has a question for John. Hmmm, weird........Is T.J. Houshmandzadeh back to normal now, or should I be playing Mario Manningham this week instead?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:34 FOX Fantasy
3:36
John Juhasz:
I don't know about Housh. His whole season has been such a disaster, but he was bound to have at least one good game like this. He's too talented of a receiver to just flub his way through the entire year. Does this mean you should rush him back into your lineup? Yeah, maybe this week. It could be another situation where he'll pick up a bunch of yards while the Vikings are playing a late prevent D. And I like him better than I like Manningham's potential against Atlanta.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:36 John Juhasz
3:37
FOX Fantasy:
Yo Mama is one of our favorites here. He/she/it has a QB query.........Who is a better play this week, Donovan "I throw it in the dirt" McNabb or Ben Roethlisberger?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:37 FOX Fantasy
3:38
John Juhasz:

McNabb sure didn't throw the ball into the dirt last week, did he? He had one of his better games as a pro against the Bolts D, and I think he's going to have another big day against Chicago's terrible secondary. I'll predict it right now: Jeremy Maclin or DeSean Jackson (maybe both) will catch a touchdown pass of at least 50 yards. I think he'll have a better day than Big Ben since the Steelers will likely attack Kansas City's sorry run defense more than they'll try/need to throw the ball.

Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:38 John Juhasz
3:40
FOX Fantasy:
I Am Spartacus is next, thanks to yet another quality That Thing You Do reference........Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw or both this week vs. Atlanta? And is Danny Ware any threat to take carries away from either of them?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:40 FOX Fantasy
3:41
John Juhasz:
Jacobs has been a colossal disappointment. Maybe even the biggest of any RB this year. But Atlanta's run defense may be just the tonic they need to turn things around, and the Falcons play far worse away from home for some reason. I'd roll the dice with both of those guys in this spot, and never mind Danny Ware. I heard all preseason long that he was a big threat to take carries, but I'll believe it when I see it.

FOX Fantasy:

Our buddy Dilemma has one of those things himself.........I need to choose between Pierre Thomas, Cadillac Williams and Mike Sims-Walker for my Flex spot this week. I've chosen wrong with Thomas EVERY TIME! What's the right move?

Yeah, Thomas' performance last week was inexcusable since it came against the Rams. Had they played the Steelers or Vikings, I'd have understood. But failing to crack 40 rushing yards against St. Louis? Wow. At least he has the chance to redeem himself against the sorry Bucs. But of the three you listed, I think Mike Sims-Walker is your best bet. He's playing the defensively challenged Bills, and he rarely leaves his owners disappointed.

FOX Fantasy:
Fred's pondering a trade..........I've had a REALLY bad day. Can you help me make it better?! I'm looking to trade Marques Colston and Kevin Smith for Thomas Jones, Kevin Walter and Torry Holt. It leaves me weaker at WR, but really upgrades my RB situation.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:46 FOX Fantasy
3:47
John Juhasz:
Hey, Fred. Bad day already? It's not even halfway over.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:47 John Juhasz
3:48
John Juhasz:

I might want to hold on to Smith for just one more week. He has had a disappointing season so far to say the least, but he gets to play the horrendous Browns while Colston gets the Bucs. You almost couldn't ask for two better matchups there. Smith's production may very well go straight south after Week 11, but if you wait until a week from today to pull the trigger on the deal, you'll probably be better off.

Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:48 John Juhasz
3:50
FOX Fantasy:
Playing off that answer, Joel has a RB issue........Would you rather have Kevin Smith or Beanie Wells for the rest of the season?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:50 FOX Fantasy
3:50
WOuld you rather have Kevin Smith or Beanie Wells for the rest of the year?
Kevin Smith
 ( 7% )
Beanie Wells
 ( 93% )

Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:50
3:52
John Juhasz:
Wells, and I don't think it's even close. Smith has only cracked 100 yards once this year and has a total of three rushing touchdowns (none receiving). Wells is coming into his own and scoring with nice frequency. He's not a yardage beast, but is someone who has a legit chance to get you two scores every time out. Go with the rookie from Ohio St.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:52 John Juhasz
3:53
FOX Fantasy:
Ricky's debating making a bold move this week..........is it crazy to sit Randy Moss this week for either Kevin Smith, Pierre Thomas, Dallas Clark or LeSean McCoy?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:53 FOX Fantasy
3:56
John Juhasz:

I made my thoughts known about Smith above. I think he has an excellent matchup this week, and if he flops against the Browns, then the issues are way more serious than I had first imagined. I like him better than Thomas since he doesn't have to share carries like Pierre does. McCoy isn't ready to be a featured back, and I'd almost always start a team's featured RB over a TE, even if it is Dallas Clark.

Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:56 John Juhasz
3:56
FOX Fantasy:
We have time for two more, and Doug's up next.........Hey John, Lee Evans is on our waiver wire. Is he worth a pickup right now? All five of my other WRs are third-tier guys right now.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:56 FOX Fantasy
3:58
John Juhasz:
Yeah. and he's really the only Bill I'd consider starting right now. Evans always picks it up at the end of the year, remember. December is when he gets it going, and if he wants to start now, I'd be fine with that. If the rest of the WRs on your roster are weak, then go with Lee.
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:58 John Juhasz
3:59
FOX Fantasy:
I like this one from In The Playoffs, who asks.........John, I have a strategy question. I clinched a spot in the playoffs already. Any strenuous objection to my going kickerless the rest of the way to keep one more RB on my roster? Is that wrong to do?
Tuesday November 17, 2009 3:59 FOX Fantasy
4:01
John Juhasz:
Congrats on clinching. And there can be no objections for what you want to do. Fantasy FB isn't a team sport, and once you've clinched, you can do whatever you like. If other owners in your league object, just reply "Scoreboard." If there are no rules in place to prevent you from doing this (and I can't imagine there would be), then go for it.
