Wise Triumphs at Toledo Speedway
Team Mopar's USAC National Midget Series contingent pulled out all the stops over the weekend, racking up one quick time award, a heat race win, a semi-feature victory and two feature event wins in only two races. Competing at Toledo Speedway in Ohio on July 8 and Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in Ohio on July 9, Josh Wise, Dave Steele, Kyle Nicholas, Jerry Coons Jr., and Teddy Beach were definitely at the head of the class. Wise and the No. 20 Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises team scored a victory at Toledo Speedway on Friday night to kick off the weekend in style. Wise also picked up a semi-feature victory en route. Capping his weekend with a sixth-place finish at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway, Wise came away from the run still in front of the USAC National Midget Car Series points chase. Steele and the No. 02 Nicholas Motorsports team also earned a victory, picking up the win at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway on Saturday evening. Steele was on the podium at Toledo Speedway as well, finishing second in the feature event. His teammate Nicholas drove the No. 2N to a 22nd-place finish at Toledo Speedway and came back to earn an eighth-place finish on Saturday at Mansfield. Steele is currently ranked eighth in USAC National Midget Car Series points. Coons, Jr. and the Wilke-PAK Motorsports No. 11 team earned 'fast qualifier' honors at Toledo Speedway on Friday. Coons Jr. went on to finish fourth in the race. The team wrapped up the weekend with a flourish, as Coons Jr., drove to a solid fifth-place finish at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway. Coons Jr., is currently fourth in USAC National Midget Car Series points. Beach and the No. 125 Beach Boys Motorsports team were also on their game over the weekend, as they picked up an eighth-place finish at Toledo Speedway. Beach drove his Ed Pink Mopar-powered machine to a heat race victory at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway. Beach is currently fifth in USAC National Midget Car Series points.
