Tebowing hasn't seen much action on the field of late. However, 'Tebowing' the horse took plenty of action at the windows on Thursday at Del Mar.

The 3-year-old filly, a daughter of 2000 Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus, was sent off at 5-2.

Tebowing sat fifth in the six-horse field, four lengths off the leaders for much of the race.

Looking to be in tight spot, jockey Corey Nakatani found a lane in the stretch and Tebowing was able to grind down pace-setting Rhodium at the wire in the race for $28,000-$32,000 claimers.

Time for the mile was 1:37.63 and Tebowing returned $7.20 to win and topped an exacta worth $32.40 and trifecta that paid $100 on the button.

So, how did the filly come to her name?

"At the same time the Tebow fascination was happening, we said what a great name for a horse," said Billy Koch, the managing partner of Little Red Feather Racing who bought four yearlings last September and named a filly Tebowing, said in 2012. "I'm not the biggest Tebow fan, but what he did was pretty miraculous and we all thought the name would be terrific. And it wasn't taken."

In a February race at Santa Anita, Tebowing showed a similar flair for the dramatic — like her namesake — closing from far off the pace to get up for a win at the wire.
