Hometown Cardinals Featured on Spotlight on FSN Midwest
by FOXSports.com
FSN Midwest profiles four members of the St. Louis Cardinals
organization who grew up in the St. Louis area - Cardinals Jason
Isringhausen and Kyle McClellan and Memphis Redbirds Cliff Politte and
David Freese - in Spotlight: Hometown Cardinals, a 30-minute special
premiering Thursday. Spotlight: Hometown Cardinals talks to the four
players about their journey from fans in Cardinal Nation to the upper
levels of the Cardinals organization.
Isringhausen grew up in Brighton, Ill. and is the Cardinals all-time
saves leader. McClellan graduated from Hazelwood West High School in
2002 and rose to the majors this season to make an immediate impact in
the Cardinals bullpen. Politte, a Vianney High Schgool graduate, was
drafted in 1995 and played for the Cardinals in 1998. He rejoined the
organization as a minor league free agent in December and is currently
at Triple-A Memphis. Freese, a Lafayette grad, was drafted by the
Padres and traded to the Cardinals for Jim Edmonds in December. Freese
is hitting .283 with four home runs for Memphis.
