Royals' official: Beltran in Kansas City for talks

A top club official confirmed to FOXSportsKansasCity.com of Beltran's visit Tuesday afternoon and indicated Beltran arrived in Kansas City on Monday night and left early Tuesday afternoon.
"It went well," the club official said.
According to ESPN, Beltran already has a three-year, $48 million deal offer from an undisclosed club. It is also believed that the Seattle Mariners have a strong interest in Beltran and are close to making him an offer.
The Royals likely would be willing to match the length of that offer. Financing the offer might require shaving some payroll, though that may not be necessary if owner David Glass is willing to exceed last year's payroll which was about $85 million.
General manager Dayton Moore indicated earlier this offseason that he wasn't locked into a specific payroll ceiling.
Beltran, 36, started his career with the Royals and played here from 1998-2004.
Last season, Beltran hit .296 with 24 homers and 94 RBIs for St. Louis.
The Rangers and Yankees also reportedly have interest in signing Beltran.
