Chip Kelly might have his team looking leaner and meaner on the field in more ways than one. We already know that he is firmly dedicated to installing his “blur” offense from Oregon, but the first-year head coach has other principles he’s bringing to Philly.

Kelly, who took the Eagles’ head coaching gig in January, has modified every little detail inside the team’s training facility. And we mean every detail, down to the cafeteria. Gone are the days of junk-food, binge-eating lunch hours.

“Everything in the cafeteria has been re-made, and everyone in the organization from upper management to the staffers to the players are commenting on it,” ESPN’s Jeannine Edwards said Monday morning on SportsCenter. “You go in the cafeteria and you see nothing but healthy food choices because Chip Kelly believes elite athletes need optimal nutrition.”

Rookies have it rough in the NFL. Forget about the leap in competition, you gotta deal with hazing, too. But is it too much to hope for veterans to get your name right? Keep Reading…

DeSean Jackson used words like “accountable,” “camaraderie” and “competition” when describing the Eagles’ offseason in an exclusive interview with Laces Out. Kind of a different tone than was expected from a player whose team finished 4-12 in 2012 while occupying the basement of the NFC East.

Jackson has been busy this offseason getting familiar with new head coach Chip Kelly, who takes over after Andy Reid was ousted after 14 seasons. Kelly brings a new energy to Philadelphia and is very meticulous in how he wants his players spending their time in the team facility. Jackson thinks the coach’s new philosophy suits him very well, especially on the field.

“The sky is the limit,” Jackson said during a video shoot for T-Mobile’s Simple Choice campaign. “I have the ability to be able to be moved around, so the sky is the limit. I’m looking forward to having a great season.” Keep Reading…

The Rams rookie is learning a harsh truth: When you become an NFL player (especially a first-round pick), people start coming out of the woodwork expecting money.

“Everybody expects a lot of things from you as far as money,” Austin told the Rams’ website (via Pro Football Talk). “Everybody wants to be around you. My phone doesn’t stop ringing now. It feels like they’re counting my bank account now. So that’s probably the hardest thing for me right now, just people.” Keep Reading…

As an NFL linebacker, Will Witherspoon has spent most of the past decade trying to avoid the oncoming rush of lead-blocking fullbacks and pulling guards. Yet it’s nothing compared to how Witherspoon spends his offseasons, where as the owner and proprietor of Shire Gate Farm in Owensboro, MO, he’s got to be on the look-out for 1,000 pound bulls charging full-speed at him.

“You’ve heard of a cow jumping over the moon,” Witherspoon said recently in a phone interview with FOX Sports. “Wait until you see one jumping over a five and a half foot fence. When you get cows in heat, bulls are crazy. They’re either jumping over (fences), or through it.”

Witherspoon originally purchased Shire Gate in 2007 as a place to board his horses, but his vision for the property has become much larger over the last six years. It is now a sustainable farm, which according to Witherspoon is home to over 140 head of cattle, 84 chickens, 22 sheep, 13 dogs, seven horses, two goats and two cats. The property is managed year-round by his father and a full-time farm manager, while a local farm man occasionally chips in a helping hand as well. Keep Reading…

If the Redskins owner gets his way, the xx-year NFL franchise will never change their name.

Daniel Snyder told USA Today Sports in an exclusive interview that he wouldn’t consider tweaking the team name.

“We will never change the name of the team,” Snyder told USA TODAY Sports this week. “As a lifelong Redskins fan, and I think that the Redskins fans understand the great tradition and what it’s all about and what it means, so we feel pretty fortunate to be just working on next season.” Keep Reading…
