Philip Humber threw a perfect game on April 21. The final out occurred on a checked swing by Seattle's Brendan Ryan. Ryan missed at a full-count pitch, but the ball eluded catcher A.J. Pierzynski, who threw to first base to complete the play.

... Phil Humber was once a member of the New York Mets, one of two teams — the other the San Diego Padres — never to toss a no-hitter? Humber was the third overall draft pick by the Mets in 2004, but was dealt to the Twins in 2008 in a trade that involved Johan Santana. The right-hander was acquired by the White Sox on waivers from Oakland in January 2011.
