San Diego Padres @ Seattle Mariners

Scheduled Start Time: 4:10 PM ET

SAFECO Field

(Sports Network) - Towering right-hander Aaron Harang faces his hometown team for the 17th time in his career on Monday when the Seattle Mariners host the San Diego Padres in the first of four straight interleague meetings.

The Mariners will host the initial two games of the series before it shifts to San Diego's Petco Park on Wednesday and Thursday.

Harang, who turned 35 earlier this month, is 5-5 in 16 career matchups with a 3.75 earned run average against the Padres, with whom he pitched for in 2011 while winning 14 games in 28 starts.

The 6-foot-7, 261-pounder went to the Los Angeles Dodgers as a free agent prior to the 2012 season and was 10-10 for them in 31 starts before being dealt to Colorado on April 6.

He never suited up for the Rockies, however, and was instead sent to Seattle for a minor-league player five days later.

Harang carried an 11.37 earned run average through his first three starts with the Mariners before breaking through with an 8-3 defeat of Baltimore on May 1.

He's 0-2 in a pair of outings since and has been ripped for 14 hits and nine runs in 9 2/3 innings of work.

For the Padres, lefty Clayton Richard makes his first start since May 4 after a stint on the 15-day disabled list due to an intestinal virus.

He was 0-4 in six starts before the ailment and had pitched more than five innings just twice. His most recent start on May 4 last just 3 2/3 innings and saw him give up seven runs in an 8-1 loss to Arizona.

The Padres went 1-5 in those six games.

Richard, however, is 4-1 in six career meetings with the Mariners with a stingy 2.33 earned run average and 23 strikeouts on 38 2/3 innings.

He's 0-2 this season on the road, but has won both his career outings at Safeco while allowing two runs on 15 hits in 14 innings.

On Sunday in Arizona, Martin Prado went 4-for-4 with the eventual game-winning RBI in the seventh inning as the Diamondbacks edged the Padres, 6-5, to win the rubber match of a three-game set at Chase Field.

Carlos Quentin and Kyle Blanks each went 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Padres, who have dropped four of five.

Tommy Layne (0-1), who was recalled from Triple A-Tuscon on Friday, was tagged with the loss in his season debut. He allowed just one run in 2 1/3 innings.

In Seattle, Jason Bay drove in the game-winning run in the 13th inning as the Mariners snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers.

With two outs and a runner on third, Bay delivered a single to left off Ross Wolf to score Kendrys Morales, who knocked a double off Michael Kirkman (0-1) earlier in the inning.

'It feels great. Not just for me but for everybody. That was a big sigh of relief for a lot of people,' Bay said.

Seattle starter Hisashi Iwakuma pitched eight innings, giving up two runs on five hits while fanning eight. Yoervis Medina (1-0) threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win.

Morales also had a two-run homer, while Raul Ibanez delivered a solo shot in the victory.

San Diego won five of six games with the Mariners in 2012, while Seattle did the same - winning five of six - to take the season series in 2011.
