New York Yankees @ Oakland Athletics

Scheduled Start Time: 10:05 PM ET

Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum

(Sports Network) - The New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics will resume their three-game set at O.co Coliseum after the surging A's won Tuesday's opener behind a big night at the plate from Derek Norris.

Norris doubled and homered -- both with two outs -- to record his first career four-RBI game. Starter Bartolo Colon tossed six shutout innings for the A's and left with a 6-0 lead before relievers Jerry Blevins and Ryan Cook allowed two runs apiece to make things interesting.

Oakland has won nine straight at home and 19 of its last 24 overall for the organization's best start in 21 years. The A's are tied with the Rangers for the top spot in the American League West entering Wednesday. Still, they are not taking the Yankees lightly.

'You're very aware of where they're going to be on the schedule, of their personnel, of their history,' manager Bob Melvin said. 'Certainly in the American League and probably Interleague, there's 29 rivals of the Yankees. Everybody gets up for the Yankees.'

Yankees ace CC Sabathia was tagged for six runs on eight hits Tuesday night, which raised his career ERA in Oakland to 5.29.

'I just felt like everything was flat; no real life on the fastball,' Sabathia said. 'It's up to me to go out there and battle, try to keep us in the game. I couldn't do that.'

New York hopes to get a better performance from Wednesday's starter, Phil Hughes. The right-hander is coming off a strong outing in Seattle on Thursday, as he limited the Mariners to just one run on three hits over seven innings. The three hits allowed were his fewest in a start since Aug. 19, 2011, at Minnesota.

'I mixed stuff up a lot more,' Hughes said. 'That made things a lot easier for my fastball to climb the ladder later in counts.'

Oakland has won seven of Dan Straily's nine starts, although the right-hander has only three wins to show for it and is coming off two straight no- decisions. He'll try to continue a stretch that has seen the A's starters post a 1.37 ERA at home since May 17. Against the White Sox on Thursday, Straily went seven innings and allowed four runs on six hits.

The A's have won three of their four meetings with the Yankees so far this season. They have won eight of their last 11 overall against New York, including five straight at the Coliseum.
