New York Yankees @ Oakland Athletics

Scheduled Start Time: 3:35 PM ET

Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum

(Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics try to run their home winning streak to 11 on Thursday and complete a three-game sweep of the New York Yankees in the process when they close out the set from O.co Coliseum.

Oakland continued its recent mastery of the Yanks on Wednesday, as Brandon Moss stroked a pair of home runs and finished with three RBI to back a solid start from Dan Straily in the Athletics' 5-2 win.

John Jaso knocked in a pair of runs to provide more than enough support for Straily (4-2), who held the Yankees to two runs on three hits and a walk over 6 2/3 innings.

'He's really rewarding us,' A's manager Bob Melvin said of Straily. 'He's pitching with a lot of confidence right now. He's been terrific.'

Grant Balfour stranded runners on first and second in the ninth to secure his 17th save and the A's 10th straight home victory, including the sixth in a row at home versus the Yankees.

The win also vaulted Oakland into the top spot in the AL West after the Texas Rangers fell to the Cleveland Indians earlier on Wednesday. With another victory on Thursday, the A's will have their best stretch at home since winning 12 in a row there from Aug. 13-Sept. 14, 2002.

Jayson Nix and Mark Teixeira each registered an RBI for the Yankees, who managed just three hits in falling for the third time in five games. The Yankees also failed to homer for the fifth straight game, the team's longest drought since May of 2006.

New York starter Phil Hughes (3-5) was tagged for three runs on four hits and five walks over 4 1/3 frames.

'It's a bad feeling,' Hughes said. 'I didn't have good command of the slider, changeup, really anything.'

Hoping to keep the A's rolling on Thursday will be righty Jarrod Parker, who has won his last three starts. Parker beat the Chicago White Sox on Friday, limiting them to a pair of earned runs in seven innings to run his record to 5-6 on the year, while lowering his ERA to 4.68.

Parker is 1-0 in two starts versus the Yankees with a 1.13

New York, meanwhile, will turn to Japanese right-hander Hiroki Kuroda, who has lost his last three decisions and is 6-5 on the year with a 2.84 ERA. Kuroda lost in Seattle on Friday, as he surrendered four runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Kuroda has faced the A's three times and is 1-2 against them with a 4.12 ERA.

The A's have won four of their five meetings with the Yankees so far this season and nine of their last 12 overall against them.
