Milwaukee Brewers @ Cincinnati Reds

Scheduled Start Time: 4:10 PM ET

Great American Ball Park

(Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Brewers will be without a big part of their offense for a while, but Saturday they hope to get another defensive gem from a pitcher that's had a subpar this season thus far as they resume a three-game set against the Cincinnati Reds.

Friday night, the Brewers placed outfielder Ryan Braun on the 15-day disabled list with a right thumb contusion. Braun, who hasn't played since Sunday against the Phillies, is hitting .304 with nine homers and 36 RBI this season. The 2011 National League MVP is on the DL for the first time in his career.

Yovani Gallardo, a 16-game winner last year, endured a four-start losing streak this season. The right-hander, though is coming off a great performance on Monday at Miami as he allowed four hits in eight shutout innings of a 6-1 win.

Gallardo is 5-6 with a 4.84 ERA in 16 games against the Reds.

Homer Bailey was equally as effective on Monday at Wrigley Field when he surrendered four hits and one unearned run in a 6-2 victory. Bailey has struggled in his career when facing the Brewers to the tune of a 1-5 mark and 5.81 ERA in 11 games.

Last night, Jay Bruce's solo home run in the 10th inning gave the Reds a 4-3 win.

With Burke Badenhop (0-3) on the mound and one out, Bruce stroked a 1-2 pitch to left field and it just cleared the wall to give the Reds the win.

Brandon Phillips and Jack Hannahan each drove in a run for the Reds, who have won four of five and were coming off a 14-inning loss to the Cubs on Thursday.

'Yesterday was a little disheartening and we were out there a long time,' said Bruce. 'We used a lot of guys and frankly everyone was a little tired today so this was a big win.'

Bronson Arroyo gave up three runs -- two earned -- on 12 hits with a walk and five strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings. Alfredo Simon (5-2) pitched a 1-2-3 10th to get the win.

Scooter Gennett and Martin Maldonado each hit a solo home run for the Brewers, who had won five of six coming in. Kyle Lohse was charged with three runs -- one earned -- on five hits over six innings.

'The whole thing didn't have a good feel,' Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said.

The Reds swept a three-game series versus the Brewers from May 10-12 in Cincinnati, and won nine of 15 games with Milwaukee in 2012.
