New York Mets @ San Francisco Giants

Scheduled Start Time: 10:15 PM ET

AT&T Park

(Sports Network) - There will be no rest for the weary on Tuesday when the New York Mets continue their three-game series with the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park.

New York won Monday's opener when Eric Young scored the go-ahead run on an error in the top of the 16th inning, as the Mets outlasted San Francisco, 4-3.

Young hit a one-out single off George Kontos (2-2), stole second and moved to third on a 4-3 grounder. After Javier Lopez intentionally walked David Wright, pinch-hitter Anthony Recker grounded a Lopez pitch that shortstop Brandon Crawford booted, allowing Young to score.

The Giants put two men on base with one out in the home half of the 16th, but Bobby Parnell earned his 16th save by striking out Pablo Sandoval and getting a pinch-hitting Guillermo Quiroz to bounce into a game-ending fielder's choice.

'We just hung in there,' said Mets manager Terry Collins.

Amazingly, the Mets have played three games of 13 innings or more this month and five this season.

'I've never heard of anything like this. It's unbelievable,' Collins added. 'At least we're used to it.'

Josh Edgin (1-1) tossed two innings to collect the win, the Mets' third in the last four games.

The Giants, who have dropped six of seven, stranded a runner in scoring position in the 11th and 12th innings and left the bases loaded in both the 13th and 15th.

Buster Posey went 5-for-8 with two doubles and a two-run homer for the Giants, who went 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position and left 18 men on base.

'This is as frustrating a game as we've had,' said Giants manager Bruce Bochy.

Hoping to add to the Giants' recent woes will be righty Dillon Gee, who is 6-7 with a 4.45 ERA. Gee did not get a decision on Thursday against Arizona, but pitched well, as he surrendered two runs and six hits in seven innings of his team's 5-4 loss.

Gee has faced the Giants three times (1 start) and is 0-1 against them with a 6.75 ERA.

San Francisco, meanwhile, will turn to lefty Barry Zito, who is winless in his last six starts. Zito did not get a decision in his team's loss to Cincinnati on Wednesday, but gave up just a run and seven hits in four-plus innings of work.

He is 4-6 on the year with a 4.44 ERA, but hasn't won since beating Oakland back on May 30.

In eight starts against the Mets, Zito is 3-3 with a 4.43 ERA.

San Francisco split its eight matchups with the Mets last season.
