New York Mets @ Miami Marlins

Scheduled Start Time: 7:10 PM ET

Marlins Park

(Sports Network) - Dominican Jenrry Mejia gets his second start of the season for the New York Mets on Wednesday night when they visit Marlins Park for game three of four with the host Miami Marlins.

The 23-year-old, who was 1-6 over 38 appearances in 2011 and 2012, made his 2013 debut on July 26 and emerged with an 11-0 road victory over the Washington Nationals.

He scattered seven hits, struck out seven and walked none in the effort, which was his first career meeting with the Nationals.

Mejia had spent the early months of the 2013 season shuttling through the minors and compiling a 2-0 record in six starts in the Single-A Florida State and Gulf Coast leagues and the Double-A Eastern League.

In 62 complete big-league innings over three seasons, he's allowed an opposition batting average of .292.

For the Marlins, Venezuelan righty Henderson Alvarez starts for the sixth time in 2013.

He won nine games with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2012 before heading to Miami in the offseason deal that sent Emilio Bonifacio, John Buck, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson and Jose Reyes to the American League.

Alvarez made his 2013 big-league debut on July 4 in Atlanta and was 0-1 through four starts before topping Pittsburgh, 2-0, with six innings of two- hit ball on July 26.

Alvarez lost his lone career start against the Mets after allowing six runs on nine hits in five innings.

On Tuesday, John Buck's two-run single in the top of the 10th inning lifted the Mets to a 4-2 win over the Marlins.

With Steve Cishek (3-6) pitching for the Marlins, David Wright and Marlon Byrd hit back-to-back singles to start the inning and Ike Davis followed with a walk. Buck's base hit went into center field.

The Mets had a chance for more after a sacrifice bunt by Juan Lagares and an intentional walk to Omar Quintanilla. However, pinch-hitter Josh Satin grounded to third and Davis was out at the plate, then Eric Young grounded out.

Bobby Parnell walked Christian Yelich with two outs in the home half, but got Adeiny Hechavarria to ground out to notch his 22nd save. Scott Atchison (1-0) threw a hitless ninth to pick up the win.

Mets starter Zack Wheeler took a no-hitter into the seventh, but eventually gave up two runs on three hits and three walks while fanning five over seven frames.

Donovan Solano and Jake Marisnick drove in one run apiece for the Marlins, who saw starter Nathan Eovaldi give up two runs on four hits and five walks over six frames.

The Mets entered the week with an eight-game lead in the overall series between the teams, 169-161. The Marlins won eight of the first 11 games in 2013, however, including five in a row from May 31 to June 9.
