Milwaukee Brewers @ St. Louis Cardinals

Scheduled Start Time: 8:15 PM ET

Busch Stadium

(Sports Network) - Lance Lynn states his case to remain in the St. Louis Cardinals' rotation on Wednesday when they continue a three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium.

Lynn has lost his last five decisions and hasn't held a team to fewer than four earned runs in his last five starts. His most recent setback came in Cincinnati on Thursday, as he allowed four runs, seven hits and walked four batters in five innings to fall to 13-10 to go along with a 4.37 ERA.

'If you look at the game overall, I made three bad pitches that they hit for three home runs,' he said. 'That usually doesn't happen. You take away those three pitches, and it's a totally different ballgame.'

Lynn lost to Milwaukee the last time he faced it and is 2-2 in eight games (4 starts) against the Brewers with a 3.26 ERA.

Milwaukee, meanwhile, will counter with righty Marco Estrada, who is 6-4 with a 4.49 ERA. Estrada hasn't pitched since Aug. 31 when he received a no- decision against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, as he surrendered four runs and nine hits in seven innings of a 6-5 loss.

Estrada is 0-4 in 11 games (6 starts) against the Cardinals with a 6.47 ERA.

St. Louis remained atop the National League Central on Tuesday, as Shelby Miller outdueled Wily Peralta and the Cardinals eked out a 4-2 win.

Miller (13-9) allowed five hits and two walks while striking out four over 6 2/3 scoreless innings.

'The first time we saw him, he just threw high fastballs and blew us away. He's really pitching now,' Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said.

Peralta (9-15) carried a no-hitter into the sixth before giving up a two-run homer to Matt Holliday. Peralta lasted 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs in total on just two hits while striking out seven.

Matt Carpenter went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Cardinals, who hold a one-game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the division.

'We know what's at stake,' Miller said. 'We're watching the other teams, we're keeping up with it all. I think it makes it more fun for us.'

Logan Schafer hit a two-run pinch-hit homer and Scooter Gennett had two hits and a run scored for the Brewers.

St. Louis is 11-3 this season against the Brewers.
