Toronto Blue Jays @ Chicago White Sox

Scheduled Start Time: 8:10 PM ET

U.S. Cellular Field

(Sports Network) - Colombian-born lefty Jose Quintana makes his fifth career start against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night when the Chicago White Sox host them at U.S. Cellular Field in the makeup of a previously scheduled rainout.

Just 24 years old, Quintana reached the majors last season and was 6-6 in 25 appearances while posting a respectable 3.76 earned run average in 136 1/3 innings.

He became a full-time member of the Chicago starting staff this year and picked up his eighth win of the year in his most recent start - a 4-3 defeat of Minnesota in which he allowed just one run on eight hits in six innings.

That victory ended a stretch of five straight winless starts for Quintana, who'd not allowed more than three runs and pitched at least seven innings in four of the five games.

He's 2-1 in four previous meetings with the Blue Jays, compiling a very stingy 2.10 ERA in 25 2/3 innings.

For Toronto, 30-year-old lefty J.A. Happ tries to end a brief two start skid.

The former Philadelphia Phillie and Houston Astro was 4-5 on the season after an 11-2 win at Minnesota on Sept. 7, but missed out on a pair of subsequent chances for a fifth win.

He was touched for four runs in 4 1/3 innings of a 4-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Sept. 12, then got a hard luck no-decision after he pitched seven innings and allowed a single run on four hits in a game Toronto ultimately lost, 4-3, to the New York Yankees.

Happ dropped his lone career meeting with Chicago after allowing five runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings.

On Sunday in Boston, Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a three-run homer and Felix Doubront tossed seven effective innings, as the Red Sox took a 5-2 decision over Toronto in the rubber match of a three-game series from Fenway Park.

Kevin Pillar homered and knocked in both runs for the Blue Jays, while R.A. Dickey (13-13) surrendered six hits and five runs over eight full frames, fanning 11 in defeat.

In Detroit, Avisail Garcia and Jeff Keppinger each registered three hits and two RBI to lead the White Sox to a 6-3 win over the Tigers in the finale of a three-game set from Comerica Park.

Conor Gillaspie also drove in a pair of runs for Chicago while scoring three times, a career high.

Rookie Erik Johnson (2-2) gave up just two runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings against the dangerous Tigers' lineup to earn the win.

The Blue Jays and White Sox split the first six games they played in 2013, a year after Chicago won the season series, 6-4.
