San Francisco Giants @ Arizona Diamondbacks

Scheduled Start Time: 9:40 PM ET

Chase Field

(SportsNetwork.com) - San Francisco right-hander Matt Cain will try to put a disappointing 2013 season behind him on Tuesday when he tries to help the San Francisco Giants get off to a 2-0 start in the second of four contests versus the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

Cain won just eight games last season for the Giants and pitched to a 4.00 ERA, a year after he went 16-5 with a 2.79 ERA. Cain, though, did pitch to a 2.36 ERA after the All-Star break, despite landing on the disabled list for the first time in his career. .

Unfortunately, Cain hasn't been able to carry that success into this spring, as he pitched to a 7.47 ERA over four Cactus League starts. The Diamondbacks may be the best remedy for him, however, as he is 14-7 lifetime and 4-1 with a 2.61 ERA over his last eight starts against them.

San Francisco scored a thrilling win in Monday's opener, as Buster Posey smacked a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Giants to a 9-8 win.

Miguel Montero countered with a solo blast off Sergio Romo in the home half to pull the Diamondbacks within a run. Romo, though, stranded a runner on second to seal the win.

Brandon Belt went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and three runs scored and Angel Pagan finished with two hits and two RBI for the Giants, who saw starter Madison Bumgarner surrender four unearned runs on six hits over four innings.

'It was a good win, especially when we got down, the bullpen did a great job of keeping us there... just all in all a good win,' said Posey.

Jean Machi (1-0) picked up the win after working 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

Gerardo Parra drove in three runs, while Mark Trumbo and Aaron Hill finished with two RBI apiece for the Diamondbacks, who fell to 0-3 on the season. Arizona had opened its regular season on March 22 in Australia against the Dodgers. It was swept in the brief two-game set and hasn't opened a season with four straight losses since 1999.

Paul Goldschmidt also extended his hitting streak to 22 games with a third inning double.

Brandon McCarthy started for the D'backs and surrendered five runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings. Addison Reed (0-1) was pegged with the loss after surrendering Posey's go-ahead blast in the ninth.

'There was a call there in the seventh that changed the entire outlook of the game. Overall, there is just one pitch I want back, and that was to Belt. Other than that I felt pretty good,' said McCarthy.

Wade Miley will try to get the D'backs on track Tuesday, as he tries to bounce back from a loss in Australia. Miley absorbed the loss in the first game of that series, allowing three runs and three hits over five innings.

San Francisco was 12-7 last year against the Diamondbacks.
