Texas Rangers @ Boston Red Sox

Scheduled Start Time: 4:05 PM ET

Fenway Park

(SportsNetwork.com) - Jake Peavy turned in a quality start his first time out. Now, he'll try to get a win, as the Boston Red Sox conclude a three-game series with the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park.

Peavy didn't pick up a decision on Friday versus Milwaukee, but pitched well, as he allowed two runs and six hits in six innings of work. He also struck out four without walking a batter.

'Anytime you have a chance to win and you don't have your best stuff, you don't feel the best or have the best feel, you're OK with it, but you expect more,' said Peavy. 'At the end of the day, you want to pitch deep in the ballgame, you want to give up less than two runs. That second inning got away from me. I couldn't stretch it out late.'

Peavy has not handled the Rangers well over the course of his career, going 0-2 with a 7.59 ERA in four starts. He's also walked nine batters in 21 1/3 innings against them.

Texas, meanwhile, will hand the ball to Robbie Ross Jr., who was solid in his first big league start Wednesday against Philadelphia. Ross gave up three runs (2 earned) and seven hits in five innings, but did not factor in the decision of his team's 4-3 win.

After losing Monday's opener, Texas bounced back on Tuesday, as Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre, Donnie Murphy and Robinson Chirinos all drove in two runs and the Rangers scored early and often in a 10-7 triumph.

Shin-Soo Choo contributed two hits, an RBI and scored a pair of runs for the Rangers, who have won two of their last three.

Buoyed by his offense, Martin Perez (1-0) did enough to get the win, working 6 1/3 innings and yielding four runs on eight hits.

Jackie Bradley and David Ortiz drove in two, while Mike Napoli added three hits and an RBI and A.J. Pierzynski went 3-for-4, knocked in one and crossed home twice for the Red Sox, who fell to 1-4 at home this season.

'Once we're down five, even though we got a number of leadoff hitters on base, we've got to be a little bit protective of just giving away outs,' Boston manager John Farrell said.

Felix Doubront (1-1) didn't make it out of the third inning, charged with six hits and five runs with three walks over 2 2/3 frames.

Texas was 4-2 versus the Red Sox last season.
