Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Francisco Giants

Scheduled Start Time: 10:15 PM ET

AT&T Park

(SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Vogelsong hopes to pick up his first victory of the season on Wednesday night when his San Francisco Giants resume a three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 36-year-old Vogelsong has struggled in two no-decisions to begin the campaign, including a rough outing versus the Dodgers on April 4.

Vogelsong did not pitch long enough to factor into the 8-4 win despite getting staked to an 8-0 lead after two innings. He yielded solo homers to Adrian Gonzalez and Andre Ethier in the fourth inning, then gave up run-scoring hits to Matt Kemp and Ethier the following frame to end his night.

'I was executing early and then it got away from me,' said Vogelsong after he fell to 4-3 with a 4.15 earned run average in 20 career meetings (11 starts) versus the Dodgers.

The right-hander gave up another four runs on seven hits over five innings versus Arizona on Thursday in a game the Giants lost 6-5.

Looking to give starters Zack Greinke and Hyun-Jin Ryu some extra rest, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly will give Paul Maholm his second start of the season tonight.

It will mark Maholm's fifth appearance of the season and he has allowed six runs in 6 2/3 total innings for an 8.10 ERA. The bulk of that damage came in his lone start, a 7-2 loss to the Giants on April 5.

The 31-year-old southpaw was slammed for five runs on seven hits and two walks over 4 1/3 innings. He served up a solo homer to Michael Morse and a three-run shot off the bat of Pablo Sandoval, falling to 2-4 lifetime versus San Francisco with a 4.48 ERA in 11 encounters.

The Giants rallied to take Tuesday's opener in 12 innings, with Hector Sanchez's RBI single in the bottom of that frame lifting his club to a 3-2 win.

Brandon Crawford hit a one-out single to center against Brandon League and scampered to second on a groundout by Brandon Hicks groundout. A wild pitch advanced Crawford to third before he crossed the plate on Sanchez's base hit up the middle.

Yusmeiro Petit tossed a scoreless top of the 12th to get the win, while Brandon Belt and Hunter Pence had three hits each. Belt's RBI double off Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning sent the game to extra innings.

San Francisco has won all five of its series openers this season and moved to 4-3 on a nine-game homestand.

Juan Uribe smacked a solo homer for the Dodgers, who had a three-game winning streak snapped and lost for only the second time in nine road games this season.

Gonzalez had a hit to extend his hitting streak to 10 games, though it did mark the first time in nine games he failed to get an extra-base hit.

The Giants won two of three in Los Angeles from April 4-6 and have claimed eight of the last 10 encounters overall.
