A longtime legend in the Aloha State, Shane Victorino, a Wailuku, Hawaii, native, was honored by the state on Nov. 21. Hawaii governor Neil Abercrombie (right) declared the day Shane Victorino Day in honor of the Phillies star's achievements. Victorino also filmed a guest-starring role on the CBS drama "Hawaii Five-0." The Flyin’ Hawaiian appears on the Feb. 20 episode alongside Olympic speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno. Victorino plays a business executive on a company retreat.

San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson, a former member of the LSU Tigers baseball team, took in a game at Tiger Stadium on Nov. 25. LSU defeated Arkansas 41-17 in a blowout win.

Journeyman Frank Catalanotto, who played last season for the Mets, took a trip to Italy over the offseason. Catalanotto has manned every infield and outfield position except shortstop and center field.

New Marlins closer Heath Bell spent a portion of the offseason enjoying some home cooking. During the holidays the outspoken pitcher tweeted, "Making homemade pierogies with my mama. #ilovechristmastime."

Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey (right) climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2012. The righty climbed in an effort to raise awareness for the issue of human trafficking and in support of an organization called Bombay Teen Challenge. Climbing with Dickey was Mets bullpen catcher Dave Racaniello (left) and Indians pitcher Kevin Slowey. Dickey, who majored in English Literature at the University of Tennessee, is also an author. He penned, with co-author Wayne Coffey, “Wherever I Wind Up: My Quest for Truth, Authenticity and the Perfect Knuckleball,” in which he recounts his baseball journey and some of his most painful life experiences, including being the victim of sexual abuse as a child.

C.J. Wilson is an avid speed freak, racing everything from cars to motorcycles, and even owning a car racing team. He tweeted a pic from a December ride to Piuma Road Overlook, near Malibu, Calif., with some of his buddies. He's the guy in white.

Whether it was spending time outdoors, traveling to remote destinations or focusing on family, MLB players found plenty of productive ways to spend the long offseason.
