Races
Look over each of baseball's six divisions ... Unless you're an incorrigible pessimist or witless homer, you'll conclude that every race save for the AL West (where the Angels, although flawed, are demonstrably better than all comers) is potentially a nail-biter. Particularly tough to call are the races in the AL East (home of the three best teams in baseball), the AL Central (Twins, White Sox, or improved Indians?), and the NL West (no one's any good, but a race is a race). So the September stretch drive could be a wonderfully muddled and involving one. --Dayn Perry
