News: Soriano blew the save Tuesday, giving up a run on two hits and a walk in the ninth inning. Impact: He almost escaped unscathed, but Bryce Harper was gun-shy on a deep drive to right and pulled up short rather than risk another collision with a wall. It's Soriano's third blown save of the season, and while his strikeout rate is down (15:4 K:BB ratio in 20 innings) his overall numbers (3.15 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) are solid and his job is not in jeopardy.(RotoWire, )

News: Soriano was saddled with the blown save after allowing two unearned runs on three hits through just one inning of work against the Padres on Friday. He did back-door into the win after the Nationals came back and won in the 10th inning. Impact: Soriano came in to close the game out but a Ryan Zimmerman error helped put a runner on and then defensive indifference pushed him into scoring position. Three singles later the game was tied. Though this outing was a bit rough, Soriano actually hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 16 appearances. His strikeout rate is down and he appears to have lost a mile per hour on his fastball velocity, but he still seems to be getting the job done. How long it lasts, though, may be a different story.(RotoWire, )

News: Soriano is the lone reliever receiving consistent workload for the Nationals, the Washington Post reports. He has pitched in six of the last seven games, including back-to-back games against the Tigers. Impact: Soriano saved the final two games in Atlanta last week, picked up a save and a win against the Pirates, and then closed down the Tigers for his 11th and 12th saves. The lack of work from the rest of the bullpen has led to some of the relievers feeling ignored. With Soriano being active in six of the last seven, look for Drew Storen to possibly receive some added work in the upcoming series with the Cubs.(RotoWire, )
