News: The Orioles optioned Herrera to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday. Impact: Herrera was dominant at the beginning of the season, but he has given up an earned run in four of his six appearances this month and has allowed eight home runs on the season, so the Royals decided to send him down to work through his mechanical issues. Herrera was one of the Royals' top relievers last season, so expect him to return to the big club once he gets back on track.(RotoWire, )

News: After Herrera gave up what turned out to be the game-winning home run during Sunday's loss to the A's, manager Ned Yost is likely to remove him from the eighth-inning role, the Kansas City Star reports. Impact: Herrera's ERA jumped to 4.66 after the outing and he has now given up four runs during his last seven appearances (nine innings). The biggest problem right now is the long ball as eight of the 18 hits allowed by the 23-year old right-hander have been home runs. Yost indicated that Herrera still has much to learn about pitching in the majors but did not mention a possible demotion to Triple-A. He will apparently learn on the job in low-pressure situations. Aaron Crow, Luke Hochevar and Tim Collins will likely share duties in the eighth until one shines brighter than the rest.(RotoWire, )
