News: Darvish allowed seven hits, two earned runs and two walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings Wednesday against the Mariners. He came away with a no-decision despite the solid effort. Impact: Darvish certainly pitched well enough to win, but the Rangers hitters couldn't seem to get anything going against opposing pitcher Felix Hernandez, who threw seven innings of scoreless ball. His Rangers teammates bailed him out late in the game however, as their ninth inning rally took him off the hook for the loss. One positive takeaway is that Darvish's strikeout total climbed to 23 on the season Wednesday night, although just 66 of his 107 total pitches were strikes. He'll take the hill against Oakland his next time out.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish (thumb) has been confirmed as the starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Mariners. Impact: Darvish was removed from his last start Friday with a cut on his right thumb, but the setback will not prevent him from making his scheduled start Wednesday night. In a five-star pitching matchup, Darvish will square off against Mariners ace Felix Hernandez.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish has downplayed the severity of the cut on his thumb and doesn't think it will present any issues for Wednesday's start against the Mariners, FOXSports.com reports. Impact: Even with the cut, Darvish was able to strike out nine Astros batters over eight shutout innings Friday night. He sustained the cut on his thumb when he poked it with his index finger while throwing a curveball, something he's done before with little to no ill effects on the quality of his pitching.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish struck out nine while yielding one hit in eight shutout innings in Friday's win over Houston. Impact: Darvish has thrown 15 shutout innings in two starts, though he's only been staked with two runs of support.(STATS, 5:11pm)

News: Darvish was removed after the eighth inning of Friday's start versus the Astros with a cut on his right thumb, reports Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News. Impact: Darvish was 101 pitches into the outing, but with a one-hit shutout working, it seems he should have had enough for at least one more frame. The cut on his thumb may or may not have been the reason for the exit, but it is easy to understand the Rangers not wanting to take any chances. Darvish ended the night with another outstanding line, as he struck out nine while walking just one. Consider him day-to-day right now with seemingly little chance of missing his next start.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish allowed seven hits over seven innings in his season debut as the Texas Rangers avoided a three-game sweep by beating the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0 on Sunday. Impact: Darvish struck out six and walked one. Sidelined by neck stiffness, it was his first outing since a spring training game on March 16. "I didn't feel anything unusual," Darvish said through an interpreter. Darvish got his 500th career strikeout, coming in 401 2-3 innings, by fanning David DeJesus and Wil Myers in the first. According to the Rangers, it is the fewest innings for a starter to reach 500 strikeouts in major league history.(STATS, 3:34pm)

News: Darvish (neck) was outstanding in his 2014 debut, tossing seven shutout innings with six strikeouts and seven hits allowed to earn the victory over the Rays on Sunday afternoon. Impact: After a neck ailment cost him the start on Opening Day, Darvish took the mound Sunday and appeared close to top form versus the Rays. The 27-year-old All-Star also displayed great command, throwing 65-of-89 pitches for strikes and only giving up one free pass en route to his first win of the season.(RotoWire, )

News: Darvish (neck) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Sunday, the Rangers' VP of Communications reports. Impact: Darvish, as expected, will take the mound against Alex Cobb when the Rangers square off against the Rays on Sunday. His Tuesday bullpen session was more successful than anticipated, so the Rangers' ace only had to miss one scheduled start due to a neck ailment.(RotoWire, )

News: The Texas Rangers say ace Yu Darvish is set to make his first start of the season Sunday at Tampa Bay. Impact: Manager Ron Washington says Darvish is as strong as he was before the neck stiffness that kept the pitcher from throwing for two weeks. Darvish was placed on the disabled list to start the season, though the move was retroactive to March 21, making the right-hander eligible to be activated this weekend.(STATS, 6:45pm)
Mon. Mar 31, 2014
News: Darvish has thrown an 86-pitch bullpen session and could return to the rotation in the next week. Impact: Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Monday that Darvish could return without making a rehabilitation start. He's eligible to come off the disabled list Saturday. (STATS, 1:39pm)
