News: Hoover blew the save and took the loss to the Mets on Saturday, loading the bases and giving up a walkoff grand slam to Ike Davis without recording an out. Impact: Joey Votto made an uncharacteristically bone-headed play on a bunt attempt with one man on, throwing to second base rather than first and in turn failing to get anyone out, but by no means does that take Hoover off the hook. Hoover gave up two walks and a monster home run to Davis to blow the save after another gem from Johnny Cueto. Jonathan Broxton (elbow) will be activated Tuesday and is expected to close while Aroldis Chapman (head) is out, meaning Hoover will likely work in the setup role for the time being.(RotoWire, )

News: Hoover pitched in the eighth inning Friday and manager Bryan Price said he was saving Sam LeCure for the save, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Impact: The Reds couldn't get ahead of the Mets on Friday, so LeCure didn't end up pitching, but Price said he "wanted to have him to close." Hoover pitched the ninth inning Wednesday and picked up the win when Cincinnati rallied to score, but with Jonathan Broxton (elbow) set to return early next week, Hoover isn't looking like a great bet for save opportunities.(RotoWire, )
