News: Phillies GM Ruben Amaro hopes Ruf (oblique) will begin baseball activities early next week, Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News reports. Impact: Ruf will almost certainly require either a rehab assignment or a stint at extended spring training, if not both. A late April return looks like his best-case scenario, with early-to-mid May the more likely target. Once healthy, Ruf will likely be the top bat on the Philadelphia bench, and he should see a decent amount of playing time at first base and the corner infield spots. When the Phillies play in an American League park, he'll likely be a regular lineup presence.(RotoWire, )
