News: Ventura pitched seven solid innings and finally got his first victory as the Royals beat the Houston Astros 4-2. Impact: Ventura entered Tuesday night's game winless in four career starts dating to last season despite posting a 2.53 ERA in those games. Expect more wins if he keeps this up.(STATS, 2:28pm)

News: Ventura gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out seven Astros in seven frames Tuesday. Impact: Ventura allowed his first run of the season when he threw wide of first base on a pick-off attempt in the first inning, and he gave up his second when Carlos Corporan timed a fastball for a solo home run in the fifth inning. Other than the home run, Ventura was dominant after the first inning, and remains an electric must-start option in almost all formats. He has another appealing match-up on the docket Sunday at home against the Twins.(RotoWire, )

News: Ventura was excellent in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to Tampa Bay, allowing two hits and striking out six over six scoreless innings. Impact: Ventura threw 62 of his 95 pitches for strikes and didn't walk anybody. He could be in for a big season if his 2014 debut is any indication.(STATS, 9:31pm)

News: Ventura was worth the price of admission Tuesday, tossing six shutout innings and allowing just two hits with six strikeouts against the Rays. Impact: He got a no-decision, because the Rays' Chris Archer was also dealing, so that prevented his owners from fully cashing in. However, everything Ventura did Tuesday should encourage owners that there are more great times ahead. Perhaps the best thing to take away from the game was that he didn't walk anyone, which was the one knock on him coming into the season.(RotoWire, )

News: Royals' manager Ned Yost said Friday that he'd like to use Ventura out of the bullpen the next two days, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio Kansas City reports. Impact: Ventura's scheduled start Thursday was skipped when the game was postponed due to weather and will have to wait until the Royals get through their rotation to make his next start. The young fireballer is expected to throw a side session Sunday, in addition to his prospective bullpen work, to help keep his arm strength up between starts.(RotoWire, )

News: Thursday's game between the Tigers and Royals has been postponed, so Ventura will not make his start as scheduled. Impact: Teams typically just push their starters back a day when a game is canceled, but unfortunately for Ventura's fantasy owners, the Royals will instead skip his turn in the rotation, and use him out of the bullpen until his next scheduled start Tuesday. Blame it on the rain.(RotoWire, )
